Thought I’d share an snippet. To strip a chair down properly all staples need to be removed. Removing these deeply embedded metal monsters is zen art form. Every upholsterer has their own tools/rituals for this task.

Leather/vinyl repair car seat
It’s a satisfying process and I use a range of products. First I usually glue a muslin patch underneath, placed using tweezers! Then I build up the in layers using a specialised filler, I have to heat cure/dry as I go. The final stage is colour matching and painting multiple thin layers. Adding a protective coat, polishing etc…

I can repair all sorts and I enjoy novelty. Here’s a recent job replacing leather on wheelchair padding. My cylinder arm sewing machine (named Twister by my daughter many years ago) is a beast when it comes to fiddly jobs.
