BlackCat Workshop is a small woodworking business based near Stamford Bridge, York. Run by Neil 'Sid' Porteus, using over 30 years experience of making most things wooden! The business has/is constantly having to change due to countless issues! From a fire in 2016, through Covid 19 and CofL turmoil and in Jan 2025 suffering a stroke and battling to keep operating...

I'm now mainly specialising in

smaller woodwork projects that can be made in my workshop. Please check my posts for updates, products made, prices etc. I'm not a stockist, items are mainly made to order but i do try to keep some smaller items in stock. Bespoke job enquiries will always be considered but I don't have access to many types of wood and have limited tools so unfortunately some jobs can't be taken on. Never any harm in asking though!
