Taste - Normally for dietary adherence fat is essential. Without fats to make stuff taste good youโ€™ve got bland, s**te food. Some studies actually show that you are more satisfied and satiated when your meal tastes good, so make it taste good with some fats ๐Ÿ˜›

Satiety - Fat keeps you fuller for longer between meals, thus reducing hunger signalling & increasing likelihood of dietary adherance ๐Ÿคฐ

Muscle damage has been proposed to be a contributor to hypertrophy (muscle growth) ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

This is false ๐Ÿ˜‘

It just seems to accompany the effects of training ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

It can actually have a blunting effect on hypertrophy ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Why do we see muscle damage?

Specifically we see it from an excess in eccentric training, the lowering portion of the lift โฌ‡๏ธ

Too much time spent on the eccentric can cause muscle damage in excess & cause us to feel DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) a few days after the workout๐Ÿ‘€

Why is this bad?

Excess muscle damage can block the GLUT-4 receptor which is utilised to replenish muscle glycogen lost during the workout ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

This muscle glycogen replenishment can help with recovery of the working muscle & thus growth & repair = muscle building. Not allowed when there is too much muscle damage โœ‹๐Ÿผ

How to measure when we have too much muscle damage? ๐Ÿ“Š

A good measure typically for excess DOMS (providing sleep, stress & nutrition are well managed) is DOMS on only 1 day after the workout means youโ€™ve got a good balance between eccentric action & stimulus โšก๏ธ

2 days of DOMS can signify too much muscle damage and may provide feedback for you to alter your training ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Alright so basically donโ€™t overdo spending time on the eccentric, specifically the lengthened range of a lift as this causes the most muscle damage ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

Itโ€™ll take trial and error with your programming for this, but the tools are there ๐Ÿ”จ
