Due to the weather forcast over the next few days, I will NOT be 'slittlehut with my icecream bike.
However there will be a limited amount of small pots available in the shop for walkers and large pots as usual from 12pm today after I have delivered.
Sorry for any inconvenience and thankyou for your patience.
Id like to say a big thankyou to all the old and new support from everyone, it means so much to me as a small buisness.

Would also like to take the opportunity to say a big thankyou again to everybody for your support and patience ❀

we are very excited to let you all know that ridley court farm (where the milk for our gelato comes from) is in the process of building a little farm shop which will hopefully be ready in the coming weeks with homemade cream, butter and of course our gelato & sorbets along with eggs, fresh milk and seasonal soft fruit available 🀩

Due to high demand and obvious above upheaval, we will only be taking orders for gelato & sorbets during the week for collection at Ridley on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the next few weeks. (Please contact Beth to place an order for collection from ridley on 07376778394) This will only be until the shop is up and running where a timetable of regular opening hours will be available.

Collections throughout the week are still available from myself at a time that suits you at
The rising sun,
Cotmans ash Lane,
Nr kemsing,
TN156XD.
(Please contact me to collect from here. Rachel - 07827320261)

We are working hard to keep you and ourselves safe at this time so social distancing whilst collecting is still being adhered to. Stay safe everybody πŸ™

Smudgies Homemade Gelato & Sorbets

Smudgies was created from a love of cows and a desire have my own business. I learnt to make gelato at college and the business idea became a reality. The name Smudgies comes from my childhood nickname – Smudge. Gelato is a frozen treat and the name reminds me of the delight and fun I had as a child when you had a treat!

The milk comes from a family friend who has a prize winning pedigree herd of Ayrshire’s (with a few Holstein’s and Jersey’s thrown in) The same friend introduced me to milking and dairy cows and I still regularly milk, mainly through the winter months.

Gelato is different to ice cream as it uses a higher proportion of milk to cream making it lower in fat. It is made slowly, incorporating very little air giving a dense rich flavour with a creamy texture. I also make a range of sorbets which are all suitable for vegans. They contain just fruit, sugar and water but because of the way they are made they still have a creamy texture.

Everything is made in small batches and made fresh for our events and weddings. I use fresh local fruit in season, making concentrated syrups so I can still make favourites like strawberry in the winter!
