SKW Joinery & Tiling is owned and run by myself, Stephan Warner and was established in November 2005. I am a time-served joiner, with City & Guilds NVQ level 2 and 3 in Wood Occupations: Carpentry and Joinery and a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen. In May 2005, I completed my two-year CITB-approved (Construction Industry Training Board) apprenticeship. Prior to becoming a joiner, I gained a
BA degree in Geography and German. However, I soon realised that I wanted a job where I could use my woodwork skills and went back to college to train to be a joiner. Soon after starting college, I found an apprenticeship placement with a local joinery and property maintenance company. I progressed through my NVQ level 2 in just one year and then went on to do my level 3, which I also completed in under a year. Throughout my training, and since becoming fully qualified, I have worked on a variety of different projects, covering a range of interior and exterior joinery projects, as well as specialising in solid wood and laminate flooring (for more detail of my joinery experience see the joinery section and the gallery). Whilst working through my apprenticeship, I also gained a great deal of experience in fitting bathrooms and tiling. Since starting my own business, I have expanded this experience via a range of tiling and bathroom jobs, evidence of which can be seen in the various sections within the Gallery. I do free estimates for all jobs and cover St. Helens, Wigan, Widnes, Warrington and surrounding areas. I also undertake insurance work, if required.
