Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group has revealed its excitement about the revitalisation of historic Pearsall House in Windermere in Cumbria.

The leading North West hospitality company has been granted planning permission to transform the former water research building into a top quality 18-bedroom destination hotel. 

The Lake District National Park Authority has given its backing to the proposals. 

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group has a strong history of restoring key heritage sites across the North West. 

It aims to significantly elevate a site which has fallen into disrepair, making it a venue for the area to be proud of. 

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group Managing Director Rob Ashcroft said:

“Our whole team is excited about this project as we add the venue to our operational portfolio. 

“A significant amount of work has been invested to reach this point and we are delighted with the progress made this week.

“Pearsall House is in an amazing location, right on the shore of Lake Windermere. 

“The potential for what we can achieve here is incredibly exciting. 

“Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group already has an impressive track record at sites across the North West for investing significant sums into regenerating historic landmark buildings, bringing them back to life and creating new jobs and unforgettable experiences for customers. 

“This is going to become another bustling, high class venue and we can't wait for people to see the finished result.” 

The new hotel would include 24 car parking spaces at the site.

The building was once a laboratory for the Freshwater Biological Association.

APM Design are delighted to be working with Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group in transforming the stunning Southport Grand Casino. The Buidling dates back to the 1920's and has some incredible features which we can't wait to bring back to life!

APM will be working closely with Mikhail Contract Interiors to ensure the original art deco theme is retained and enhanced within the new scheme.

Southport’s Grand Casino set for a change in fortune

One of Southport’s most iconic landmarks, The Grand Casino, sitting proudly on Lord Street is set to be brought back to its former glory by The Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group creating more than 100 jobs.

The building which, of recent, has fallen into disrepair, was reconstructed as The Grand Cinema in 1938, formerly Richard Woodhead’s car Showroom dating from 1923 will be brought back to life by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group.

Andrew Mikhail, Chairman of Mikhail Hotel & Leisure Group, said of this exciting venture, “Bringing fabulous buildings back to life is such a rewarding feeling and a building as stunning as The Grand Casino deserves to be enjoyed by the people of Southport and beyond. The Grand is both Southport and Lord Street’s jewel in the crown." He adds, “It was a sensible decision having already invested millions into our current developments in Southport’s Northern Quarter.”

The Group already own some of Southport’s most striking and favourite venues including The Bold Hotel, Lord Street Hotel, Punch Tarmey’s Irish Pub, Lord Street Sports Bar and is also the operator of the fabulous new development at Southport Market.

Andrew continues, “The plan is to create much needed 5 Star Hotel rooms, a wedding venue, Southport’s very own Brewery and a new and exciting fun themed bar for all age groups incorporating entertainment for families during the day with a wide variety of gaming, pool-tables, shuffle boards, golf and football simulators, tenpin bowling, darts plus much more. After 9pm each evening, the venue will be strictly for over 18s only, making The Grand the perfect place for a date night or a fun night out with friends”.

At the rear of The Grand we will see a much needed car park for Lord Street’s Northern Quarter.

The Mikhail Group don’t just stop there, they have eager ambitions in bringing to Southport one of Europe’s largest Sky Bars.

Andrew Mikhail goes on to say, “I can’t thank Sefton Council enough, especially Stuart Barnes and his teams, for all their help in achieving the first two phases of investment which has given me the confidence to carry on and we are looking forward to sitting down with all the relevant parties at Sefton Council and getting this final and largest phase over the line. These are very exciting times for Southport town centre again.”
