INCOMING // Really excited to get stuck into these alcove units on Monday!!

It’s been a beat since we worked with walnut, which we both adore, so to combine it with a bit of mid century influence and some quirky features is extra special.

Love that our client is busy streamlining her book collection in anticipation….🤣🤣

Have a great weekend all.

PULL-OUT // We do love a pull-out shelf… they don’t look like much, but they’re one of those things that end up being used all the time.

We use them for all sorts - tucking appliances away in kitchens, pull-out desks or printer shelves, even drying racks in laundry rooms.

It’s really just about creating somewhere for things to happen, without it taking up space permanently, and all based on a straight-forward drawer runner.

Slide it out when you need it, push it away when you don’t. Simple really, but ever so effective.

WORD OF THE DAY // Or year more like….can’t believe we’ve not heard this before. It’s genius. Sadly can’t claim it, but will definitely be using it. Love a good mash up 🤣

Any more we’re missing???

THE ART OF DISTRACTION // For a client who loves to watch the sport, the TV is a big necessity, but a new build with a large expanse of space and limited features meant creating a distraction from the big black blob day to day.

Warm oak, simple detailing, asymmetric design and dimmable lighting all come together to create an alternative feature. One that adds character, function and space to display her favourite things.

On or off, there’s always something to look at ☺️

FUNCTION // it’s matters above all else in small spaces.

The extending clothes airer, the pull-out laundry shelf, the lift-up extension for extra work surface. Every bit designed specifically for a client who wants ease and order in the everyday, with the calm that comes from hiding it all away.

The same space now somehow feels bigger. It’s all in
the design.

MAKING // This isn’t the most glamorous bit of a project … but it’s an important one.

This is us templating and gluing up a Mirostone solid surface worktop for a utility room. It has the look of stone but it’s incredibly practical - fully hardwearing, hygienic, and perfect for things like undermount sinks.

The best bit is we can fabricate it ourselves in the workshop using the same tools we use for the cabinetry.Which means no outsourcing to a stone supplier and no long waits. Everything stays under one roof.

Just another small example of how we design it, make it, and fit it ourselves.

INCOMING // It’s been a while since we did a media wall……

Ok, it hasn’t, they’re our most requested builds, but with each one comes new excitement as no two are ever the same.

This one, a particularly light, calm, and minimal design, is signed off and heading into the workshop next week. Watch this space….

CURIOUS // The first conversation isn’t about having everything figured out.

It’s about being curious, asking a few questions and seeing what might work best in your home.

If that feels like where you are, give us a call. Our details are in the bio.

FUNCTION // Utility rooms work best when they’re treated like a system, not a collection of cupboards. We’re starting a small one this week for an existing client. Nothing flashy - just a space that needs to work properly.

We’ve planned it right down to where the floor steamer lives, and how it slides back into its cupboard without knocking anything else on the way. That’s usually how we look at these rooms - how things come in, where they land, and how they move back out again - before we design anything around them.

We’ve written more about that way of thinking in our How to plan your space guide, link in the comments.
