And here's the pelmet, hung on a simple wooden batten, to go with the double pinch pleat curtains hung last week. For a bit more detail, we added a couple of folds at the bottom, which makes it look a little like a roman blind.

Hanging these double pinch pleated curtains was a lovely way to end the week. Made in the very striking Designers Guild Rose de Damas fabric in cobalt, lined with Evans Textiles DB1 lining in almond & hung on client's existing curtain pole. A pelmet has also been made in the same fabric, with folds along the bottom to replicate a roman blind, to go above the kitchen window - photo to follow soon when client has fitted it.

Final fitting of the year done. Two pairs of curtains in Prestigious Textiles Santa Maria fabric in Rumba, lined with Evans Textiles DB1 in ivory. The curtains have been hung on clients existing curtain tracks. It was essential that both pairs had the same pleat & space sizing, to ensure the pattern fell in the same place on both pairs BUT they had to fit on two different length tracks, one of which also had a static section which had to fit exactly, while the moving sections on both tracks needed a little bit of ease. Lots of tricky maths involved but we got there. Merry Christmas 🎉

Yesterday we delivered & hung two pairs of eyelet headed curtains. The very short brackets on the client's existing wrought iron poles meant both pairs needed 10 eyelets per width rather than the usual 8, to ensure the back of the curtains does not rub on the walls. As the finials are part of the pole & not removable, it took a while to get the short pair of curtains hung. Adding each eyelet individually working upside down & back to front did the trick! Fortunately, the pole for the long curtains does not have a finial on the left end, making hanging those much quicker & easier. Curtains are in Bimble fabric in sunset from Scion Living with matt black eyelets to match the poles from Hallis Hudson - trade only and lined with soft draping blackout from Evans Textiles.

A much loved local village pub, The Horns at Crazies Hill, was bought a while ago & has been beautifully renovated by a group of local villagers. Following a hugely successful opening weekend, I am now delighted to share our small part in that renovation. We made & fitted 14 made to measure bespoke roman blinds, all of which are compliant with fire safety regulations.
The blinds in the bar & dining areas are in Tweed fabric in Ginger with antique brass chains. The blinds for the beautifully furnished guest bedrooms (available to book) & managers accommodation are in Hawes fabric in Pebble. Both fabrics are from Prestigious Textiles. All the blinds have been hung on rotary chain operated headrails compliant with child safety legislation from Evans Textiles. EDIT: forgot to say, we ate at the pub on Friday evening & can definitely recommend both the homemade pie & the fish & chips :-)

New curtains for the client's lounge in Akola in Olive by The Pure Edit, delivered & hung on a spun brass pole from Hallis Hudson. The four matching cushions will work perfectly when the suite has been recovered in a co-ordinating plain green fabric. For the study, a side chair expertly recovered by Caroline at Resumo Upholstery, in Warwick Marvellous in Burgundy, which picks out the burgundy in the two new blinds in Prestigious Textiles Belmont in Autumnal.

The doors between the client's lounge & dining room can be opened to make one larger space, so the curtains for both rooms have been made in the same pretty Ambleside fabric from Chatham Glyn, lined with soft draping blackout from Evans Textiles and hung on poles in a burnished brass finish from Hallis Hudson - trade only. The blue in the curtains adds a little colour on the walls & co-ordinates perfectly with the clients new sofa & chairs. For the new roman blinds in the bay window, which have been hung on child safe compliant headrails from Evans Textiles, we matched the colour of the Linara fabric by Romo to one of the shades of cream in the curtains. This north facing room much now much lighter & brighter than it was previously.

Not sure I could have picked a hotter day for a fitting! The client's long kitchen diner has recently been totally refurbished. Three blinds along one wall would make the room look even longer so we went with two blinds in the kitchen area and 2 pairs of curtains in the dining area, which also makes the dining area a bit more cosy. The design of the Ashley Wilde Group Calvia fabric in olive picks up the both the curves & the colours of the newly painted kitchen units, while the cream background keeps the room light and airy. With very little space for the curtains to stack back in the corner, the eyelet heading & expertly fitted poles, allow them meet neatly in the corner without obscuring the windows.

A few months ago, we made a roman blind for the client's newly fitted kitchen (which I forgot to share). The client wanted to do one project at a time so today, we hung two pairs curtains in the same fabric in the adjacent dining area. The curtains have been hung on newly fitted burnished brass curtain poles from Hallis Hudson - trade only which go perfectly with the very striking Matupi fabric by Harlequin Fabrics and Wallcoverings. We also made 3 piped cushion covers in the same fabric, which I forgot to photograph!

First fitting of 2025. A pair of lined eyelet headed curtains and two lined roman blinds for a clients newly redecorated kitchen diner. These replace the curtains & blinds I made for her in 2013. The pretty floral fabric brings colour & light into the room & goes beautifully with the duckegg of the kitchen units & the red of the splashback and bar stools.
