🚨 HERE WE GO AGAIN… YET ANOTHER VICTIM OF A CASH-ON-DELIVERY SOFA SCAM 🚨
This is a bit of a long read, but it’s important if it helps stop even one person from being caught out by these scammers.
The first photo shows what was advertised. and what was actually delivered. tge second photo is what these scmmers profiles usually look like.
We’ve covered the customer’s name and profile details to protect their privacy, but they have kindly given us permission to share their experience in the hope of raising awareness and preventing others from going through the same thing.
Sadly, this is something we’ve seen far too many times over the years.
People are lured in by professional-looking photos, bargain prices, free nationwide delivery and cash-on-delivery promises, only to receive something completely different to what they thought they were buying.
In many cases, these sellers use photos of branded sofas or genuine retailer images in their adverts. Customers think they’re getting a sofa that looks like the one in the picture, but what arrives at the door is often a completely different product.
And unfortunately, the problems don’t usually stop there.
From our experience dealing with customers who have come to us after being caught out, many of these sofas are built to an extremely poor standard. We’ve seen weak timber frames snap within weeks, poor customer support systems often being told to P OFF then being blocked, uncomfortable seat cushions that are literally rock hard, badly filled back cushions with foam sweepings of random bits of foam swept up off tge floor and fabrics that are of questionable quality.
We’ve also seen examples where sofas have been delivered without the correct permanent fire safety labelling required for upholstered furniture sold in the UK. If a sofa doesn’t have the correct fire safety information attached, that should immediately raise alarm bells.

❌ Cash on delivery only
❌ Prices that seem far too good to be true
❌ No showroom or premises you can visit
❌ No genuine customer reviews
❌ No clear business address
❌ Newly created pages with very few followers
❌ Generic adverts claiming “Luxury Sofas”, “Free Delivery”, “Cash on delivery (COD)”
One thing we’ve noticed is that many of these pages all look remarkably similar. Similar adverts. Similar descriptions. Similar promises. Similar pricing.
The reality is simple.
If a brand-new sofa is being advertised at a fraction of the price you’d expect to pay elsewhere, there is usually a reason for it. if it seems to good to be true IT IS!!
Please do your homework before handing over your hard-earned money.
Check reviews.
Check how long the business has been trading.
Ask where they’re based.
Ask if you can view the sofa before buying.
And if possible, buy from a business with a genuine showroom or premises where you can actually see who you’re dealing with.
These rip-off merchants are damaging the reputation of the furniture industry and leaving honest people hundreds of pounds out of pocket.
