Our story
How did this all begin? So my dad had his own joinery business for years called Rhino Joinery. I used to go to work with him whenever I could. He would give me a sledgehammer and tell me to knock down a wall or give me a sander to do a load of floorboards. One of my first memories is my dad giving me a hard hat and one of his old drills; he told me that when I was old enough, he’d teach me how to use it. A lot of my weekends and school holidays were spent on building sites and in his workshop. As far as my childhood dreams went, I wanted to be either a ballerina or a joiner like my dad. Considering I got kicked out of ballet classes for being disruptive, joinery was my new goal. I later decided to go into academia and focus on a career in neuroscience, gaining my MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience. Despite this, I’ve always been building things, leaning on my dad for advise and also having someone to laugh with me when it all goes wrong. A few months ago, my dad had to suddenly retire for medical reasons. We had been selling our little furniture creations to friends and family for a few months and decided now would be the perfect time to pick up my dads old tools and carry on his legacy. Rhino furniture was therefore born.
