Gelli Y Gafel Gelli Y Gafel is a permaculture project in West Wales which aims to transform a pasture field into a bio-diverse and multifunctional ecosystem.

Gelli Y Gafel is rooted in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. We are in the process of transforming a pasture field into a bio-diverse and multifunctional ecosystem, designed to provide food and timber in a sustainable manner. The land comprises of areas for annual and perennial crops, soft fruit production, forest garden, timber and coppice, plant raising, wild areas and ponds. We aim to provide for our

needs whilst enhancing the fertility and biodiversity of the land. We use permaculture principles and observations from nature in our design in order to create a self supporting system tailored towards providing edible crops, medicines, useful timber and craft materials.

We're running this workshop on Monday 5th August timed to complement the One Planet Council's open week. Learning how to take an initial look at any piece of land is a great skill for those keen to kick off their land based projects... or write OPD applications.

Join in on a Tour around the UKs first off grid Passivhaus

This event will focus on energy efficiency in the home, retrofitting, renewable energy technology and sustainable housing. To compliment this informative event we will also be visiting Parc y Rhodyn; a straw insulated self-build and the UK’s first certified Passivhaus which is entirely off-grid.
Parc Y Rhodyn was shortlisted for the 2023 UK Passivhaus Awards in the new build residential category.

Where to meet: Y Stiwdio, Hermon and Parc Y Rhodyn, Hebron
When: 18th of April 2024
10am to 3pm

Refreshments provided. Please bring lunch to share
