OWR (Dr Anil Alexander) spent a wonderful week in Guatemala City training the excellent Forensic Acoustics laboratory at INACIF (Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Forenses de Guatemala (National Institute of Forensic Sciences of Guatemala). They are pioneers in the use of VOCALISE, our forensic speaker recognition system in the region. Thank you to to Dr Karla Lopez Trocolli and her team for their excellent hospitality, the Iafis Group, and in particular to Daniel Sierra Canales for explaining and translating.

A real pleasure this week to welcome Mamoun Alaoui and Karim Ajame visiting us from Morocco. Great to reconnect and exchange ideas once again with such experts in the field. We had stimulating discussions on deepfakes, speaker recognition, and Berber/Amazigh and Arabic speech recognition.

Just over a week ago, we had the pleasure of hosting PhD student Chloe Patman from the Phonetics Lab of the University of Cambridge at our office. Chloe is particularly interested in the acoustic and automatic analysis of female voices for forensic casework. She ran a variety of experiments with recordings that were both humanly and artificially manipulated to change their pitch using our VOCALISE forensic automatic speaker recognition software. She had some very interesting findings, and we look forward to hearing more.

What an incredible few days at Security and Policing 2025!

Once again, it was an incredible experience to connect with industry leaders, government officials, and security professionals, all working toward a safer future. From insightful discussions to cutting-edge technology showcases, the event was both inspiring and impactful. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared knowledge, and made this event so valuable. Looking forward to continuing these conversations and building on the innovations we explored!

And a special thanks to the dedicated and hard-working organizers, ADS Group Ltd, UK Defence & Security Exports and Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC), for putting together such a well-run and meaningful event.
