I have been wanting to use this photo of the amazing rainbow pigeon (yes it is a real bird), for a few years.

This photo has a bit of a story behind it (and I will confess now, that it isn't my own photo) . Many years ago when I was working as a textile trimmings designer, instead of the usual fabric sample, I was sent a photo of this bird as inspiration for a custom-made bullion fringe. I had to mix yarns to match the gorgeous plumage of this pigeon. Thankfully, the resulting fringe was beautiful, and the client was delighted.

I will admit, that I do have a love/hate relationship with pigeons... and most of it is hate 😆...,but I do also have a sneaking admiration for them. Especially after visiting Bletchley Park, and hearing about their amazing contribution in World War II. So this colourful variety does help to further improve my pigeon relationship!!

Are your curtains or blinds starting to look a little worn? Perhaps you're finishing a home extension or have recently moved into a new property.

Choosing the right window treatments can feel overwhelming, but that's where I can help. From selecting the perfect style and fabric to the delivery of your finished curtains or blinds, I'll guide you through every step of the process, making it enjoyable and stress-free.

If you'd like support with the wider look of your space, I can also offer design advice for the rest of your room décor.

Already have fabric you'd like to use? I'm happy to work with customer-supplied fabrics, subject to a suitability assessment.

Please feel free to get in touch for a friendly chat about your project.

After the hot, sunny days of last week it really feels like summer has arrived slightly early!

Today's Colour Inspiration Board is all about outdoor living - a nature inspired scheme for a garden room, veranda, or patio,

I took this photo a few years ago, in the gardens of Howick Hall in Northumberland; originally the home of Earl Grey of tea fame!

The fabric is Sandersons Truffle, Outdoors Fabric and the cushion is Voyage Maison.

Here's another bright colour palette, perfect for a beautiful, sunny bank holiday Monday. The inspirational photo was taken by my friend Lorraine, in the Yves Saint Laurent Garden in Marrakesh.

Probably not the easiest colour palette to incorporate into a home, but it could create a really striking look when paired with a neutral scheme. Introducing a bold fabric like the one in my image, along with accents of orange, cobalt blue, and mint green, would add real drama to the space.

The appropriately named fabric is Iliv's 'Summer' in the Tapestry colourway.

This gorgeous photo of blossom against a clear blue sky looks as if it could be AI generated, but I promise it's not. It was taken a few weeks ago in the West Midlands!

I decided to use it to create a colour scheme that illustrates how to mix patterns. This can seem like quite a scarey thing to do in an interior scheme, but when done sucessfully it can look stunning.

The main pattern in this scheme is the Lucie Annabel Wallpaper, Garden Visitors. The complimentory fabrics are Romo Eston, Oxford Blue and Pure Edit Pakko, Rose.

I'm planning to include a feature on how to sucessfully mix patterns in my Summer Newsletter. Why not sign up today (if you haven't already). It should be appearing in your inbox in a month or so...I'd better get writing 😉

Well, I have decided to go seriously bright for today's colour inspiration post!!

A slightly crazy colour scheme perhaps, but it certainly has the wow factor.
The Clarke & Clarke, Dalauney Magenta Peacock fabric seemed an ideal choice to complement this palette. It would be a lovely choice for a playroom, or a funky sitting room. The bright colours can be toned down with neutrals and even black accessories, to give a slightly more sophisticated feel.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday!
Here is a slightly different colour inspiration post for today.

My good friend Richard at Fine Scottish Hampers, challenged me to create a post based around his branding colours and logo - so here it is! A calming palette of cool purples and sage green, with a slightly warmer leaf green shade to add contrast.

This is yet another perfect colour inspiration photo taken by my friend in while she was in Italy last summer. I think it must be the beautiful Mediterrenean light that helps!

The soft yellow and blue combined with the stone and greyish brown, create a fresh sunny colour palette that will remind you of warm Mediterrean summer days, even on a dull English day (or perhaps I'm being over-optimistic there!).

This palette would work well in a garden room, bright sitting room or even a kitchen.

The fabrics are both from The Pure Edit - Sana, Ochre and Bagh, Honey.

I thought we would have a really punchy colour palette this week.

Perhaps the obvious colours to pull out of this image are the pinky reds and the bright greens, but red and green are notoriously difficult to use together in a sucessful interior colour scheme (it can all turn a bit too Christmassy, if you are not careful!)

Instead I decide to use the very dark green of the shadows...it's almost black. This creates a contrast and, along with the pale shell pink, allows the bright colours to pop but not overwhelm.

The fabric is Clarissa Hulse, Serendipity, Rainbow.
