Following the success of our North Pole Behaviour Department, we were flooded with requests to do kid's behaviour cards for the rest of the year. The concept behind this one is very simple - positive reinforcement - rewarding children for good behaviour - treats in exchange for well earned wish tokens and points. The story:
Everybody knows about the elves that live in the North Pole, right? But t
here is a secret squad of elves that live amongst us – in forests, fields and maybe even at the bottom of your garden. They belong to the Good Behaviour Squad – a group of mighty elves headed by Willow the Wish Fairy. Their mission is to find well behaved boys and girls and reward them for their hard work. But how have I never seen any of these elves? I hear you ask. Well, that’s because they all have amazing super powers. They live in mushroom houses, in lots of little villages around the world. At the centre of each village is a Watch Tower which is always manned by super intelligent elves with wonderful gadgets and gizmos. They use hi-tech periscopes to watch for passersby, and if any human is detected, the Invisibility Shield is activated and the whole village disappears from view. Impressive, huh? That’s only the start of our story! The Good Behaviour Squad was formed hundreds of years ago. The Wish Fairy is actually a cousin of Gracie McTinsel – the Chief Elf of the North Pole Behaviour Department. When Willow was just a tiny little fairy, it was discovered that she had the ability to grant wishes. The Committee of Supreme Elves and Fairies decided that when she was older, she would lead a group of the most hard working elves and together they would form the Good Behaviour Squad. Good children deserve rewards and this team would travel the world to find the most helpful and well mannered children. They would choose a child and set them a challenge. Willow would ask them to make a wish, but in order for her to grant it, they must earn Wish Tokens. Her team would use their special powers to keep an eye on them during the day, and if they thought they behaved themselves, they would award them a special Wish Token. When they had collected enough, they could leave out the tokens for Willow one night and she would exchange these for the treat they had wished for. If the team really enjoyed visiting that child, they would maybe return again to grant them another wish ... but only if they continued to be well behaved. So let me tell you a bit about the Head Elves of the Good Behaviour Squad. Their names are Jett, Astrid, Flame and Spike. All of our team can fly except for Jett. Willow sprinkles her fairy dust and everyone flies off to keep watch over the children. We don’t know why Jett never got the hang of flying, but not to worry, he invented the Jet Pack Turbo 3000! You see, Jett is the Inventor of the Squad. He is always tinkering away in his little workshop out the back of his mushroom cottage. You should see some of the gadgets he’s come up with – the Invisibility Watch, the Time Travelling Pod and the X-ray Visor. He really is so talented. His special power is super hearing. He can detect arguing from thousands of miles away. If he hears raised voices, he uses his Jet Pack to zoom straight to the child’s house so that he can make notes and report back to the Wish Fairy. Astrid is our Night Elf. She loves nothing more than flying through the night sky watching the stars. Her mission is to make sure children are behaving themselves at bedtime. Good boys and girls go to bed when asked and stay in their own beds all night. Her super power is Speed – nobody can fly faster than her. Just like all other head elves, she has an Invisibility watch, so when she presses the button on the side, she completely vanishes, but if you listen very carefully, you may hear a tiny whoosh and she flies by! Flame is our chief organiser. It is her job to make sure that all children have a dedicated elf to look after them. She was given the Squad name ‘Flame’ as her hair looks just like fire. Like all red heads she can be hot headed and stubborn, but you will never meet a more caring or lovable elf than Flame. Her special power is Super Sight. She can spot a child misbehaving from very very far away ... she doesn’t miss a trick! So if you think you can get away with being naughty, think again! Spike is our cool dude ... very clumsy but with a heart of gold. You will often find him at the Elf Skate Park or playing his guitar in his cosy mushroom house. His special power is Super Lie Detecting. Spike can tell if a boy or girl is telling little fibs and he reports this straight back to Willow. The child would surely not deserve a Wish Token that day.
