Today we hosted our Pre Harvest Farm Safety Day, at E Bowden and Sons in Bovey Tracey, topics covered included :
• Sarah Bachelor, NFU Farm Safety & Transport Advisor talked on tractor and trailer weights, speeds, load security, mobile phones, slow moving vehicles, roadworthiness and PTOs, a lot of questions were raised from the floor and some really good reminders about these areas prior to harvest season starting.
• Devon Rural Crime team covering machinery thefts/farm security/GPS thefts & anti-theft products, this provided opportunities for lots of questions and information to be provided to members regarding products available to them.
• NFU Mutual Risk Management Services Ltd talked about minimising risk on your farm, and British Engineering on Loler and safe lifting, both helped members relate to there farms and equipment and what they can do to minimise risk and what inspection is required.
• What3words - we helped a couple of members download the apps on their phones.
Attendance numbers were slightly reduced due to the change in weather, however it was a good turnout with everyone taking useful information home.
Thank you very much to E.Bowden & Sons for providing the venue .
