Just picked up this gorgeous, turn of the century, chest of drawers to re-love. My fascination for antiques is that they tell a story and this one more than most ❤️

On the underside of the top there was a clipping of a newspaper attached. I googled one of the men and found him to have died in action in the First World War.

‘Corporal Lancelot Scott, 6th KOSB killed in action in France on September 25th, was employed as a mattress maker with an East End firm in Glasgow before enlisting’

Quite timely as we are coming up to Armistice Day.

We will remember them 💙

After colour drenching our bedroom in a lovely warm greige colour (Little Greene Rolling Fog) I decided the furniture needed a little bit of an update too.
From Frenchic Dusky Blush (which I still love and still have plenty of in the house 😉) to Frenchic Loof. New k***s on the bedsides.

🌟 I’ve really enjoyed this latest commission piece. A lovely, dainty 1930/40’s glass cabinet. It is made of 2 types of wood, veneer, Formica, brass and glass which determined how I was going to transform this piece whilst keeping as much of the original but also lightening the wood (sanded) to fit in todays decor with the addition of some gorgeous gold leaf on the top to give a bit of dazzle…💚

Beware wrapped doors (wardrobes or kitchens) This is after 8 years! Just lifted away from the MDF. Used a hairdryer to ‘lift’ the still stuck patches.
Painted with Little Greene ‘Rolling Fog’ mixed into this amazing paint from Brewers.
Saved a flipping fortune!!
Good job jobbed! 😊😊

💕💕‘Waste not want not’💕💕 this beautiful Gwendoline planter from was delivered broken last year. They replaced it with another that I have in the house and didn’t want this back.
Found a little place in the garden - looks like she’s in one of those individual saunas 😂😂💕💕

💕I love this IKEA shadow table but it needed some TLC as the sun had yellowed the edges.

I added silver leaf to the inside to highlight the precious pieces within and pretty crystal k***s 💕💕

Painted with the beautiful Frenchic ‘Wedding Cake’ - it gives it a more expensive soft matt finish

Ooh I do love a bit of silver leafing! This water stained tray transformed in an afternoon with Frenchic Salt of the Earth on the outside and silver leaf on the inside for a light bouncing effect.
Looks pretty with my sideboard painted in Frenchic Posh Nelly 😍😍
