Back up on the render job in Penallt...

Started by cutting off the high spots to the concrete stone effect block, then got a scratch coat on and bedded in the meshing.

Fitted new stainless steel bell cast and angle beads to get those crisp edges, then finished with a top coat float render.

Weather still can't make its mind up though. What the hell is going on Derek 😂

We've now completed both the porch roof rebuild and the Easy Slate installation on the main roof in Penallt, and the whole thing is now 100% watertight.

Not a straightforward repair, but a proper fix to a problem that had been causing issues for far too long. Getting the pitch right on the porch and having the right system on the main roof makes all the difference. That's what it's built on now, and it'll stay that way.

If you've got a roof that's been patched, bodged, or just doesn't seem right, it's worth getting it looked at properly. Sometimes the issue isn't obvious until someone who knows what they're looking at actually gets up there. 💪🏽

This customer had been struggling with a leaking roof and had previously hired a so called local “professional” roofer to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the real problem had been completely overlooked.

The main roof had been installed using Spanish slate on a pitch of only 20 degrees despite Spanish slate only being suitable for roofs with a minimum pitch of 21 degrees. On top of that, a porch roof had been built at just 10 degrees, which was causing water to pour in from multiple areas.

After carrying out a full inspection, we identified the root cause straight away and got to work putting things right properly.

To solve it, we:

⬜️ Cut in a brand new roof above the porch to increase the pitch to 22 degrees
⬛️ Installed an Easy Slate system on the main roof, which is specifically designed for lower pitches and suitable from as low as 12 degrees
🟥 Ensured the entire roof was watertight and built to last

This is exactly why experience and proper knowledge matter when it comes to roofing. A quick fix isn’t always the right fix... getting the specifications right from the start is what prevents costly problems down the line.

A little more to go on it but another happy customer in Penallt and another roof saved 💪🏽

Proper cowboy job done by a previous contractor on Handyman House's front flatroof. 😡

The existing rubber roof had been put down badly, not stuck, not dressed, leaking really badly.

We stripped it back, installed new fibreglass trims correctly, primed the rubber and overlaid the whole lot with the Restec 20/20 system. No messing!

Still waiting on the correct lead flashings to finish it off. 💪🏽
