A day or two of serious sun on our faces and look at how transformed we are in hope and heart ☀️
The main thought I have this time of year isn’t ‘wow! It’s spring again!’, instead it’s always ‘wow, look-at-me-being-surprised-that it’s spring again’. Like I had forgotten it would ever get warm, and my body needed a reminder that there are always sunny seasons after the winter.
These gorgeous days at the start of the year aren’t only to enjoy right now. They are useful to squirrel away into metaphor or memory for the darker, cold or hopeless times. Don’t quite forget that there are ALWAYS some warm and bright days somewhere ahead of you.

Being by the coast, I think the seasons feel as present as they do in rural areas. You certainly seem to see a lot of sky out here. Even in seaside resorts that wake-up for the summer it’s still somehow possible to forget that she is only ever right around the corner, marching toward you, undeterred.

This weekend in the store! We’ve been stitching up some samples and some mis-prints to make a teeny tiny selection of discounted cushions for over half price each. Screen-printed and hand made products are heavenly pieces of crafted wholesomeness that we are all blessed to have in our homes at full price - BUT - you know me and my principles, my heart aches to see waste. As a result, there are about 6 cushions in cotton and linen that celebrate the ink testers or accidents, available in the Margate store only, this weekend. 😍

The time has come, when there are just TWO of these Welsh blanket cushions left available in the Margate shop (and online). For some reason there has been a bit of a run on them in the last week, and I’ve warned everyone who got one for themselves that ‘if you want a matching one, this is probably the time to get one’ 😆 It sounds like a sales pitch but I know as soon as the last one goes, someone will get in touch wanting a partner cushion for the individual one they bought last week.
Woven in Wales, stitched up by me, photographed in the Preselis with the sheep and then followed me to Margate to the in-person shop. Lovely, large & plump real wool woven cushions, click on the link in bio to take a look 🐑🩷

Some peaceful screen printing of starbursts in repeat this week, onto thick organic cotton. This will become cheer flags with ‘whoop’ and ‘yay’ on them, for sale in the store on a hot Margate summer’s day. It’s fun to know that the making of them in the spring was slow and gentle, with long afternoons of repeat printing along to the radio and the rain falling outside 💚

For my last birthday I had the luck and privilege to become the age of 40 years around the sun (I loved it, it was such a special one). My sweet friend Anne gifted me this ‘40’ Welsh wooden love spoon along with a set of these woven Welsh placemats in orange and purple wool. I tell you I SCREAMED when I opened them - a more spot on gift for me does not exist. 😆🩷
I shared them on stories yesterday and everybody loved them so I thought I’d bring a little bit of joy to folks here on the grid too.
You can tell I love Welsh weaving and wood carving because I even have chocolate love-spoons, Welsh Blanket cushions AND pin cushions on the website and in-person store. So if someone you know would have the same reaction as me, you can get them something similar from my website. However - do not expect either of the objects gifted to me to ever leave my possession because they will not ❤️🔐🥰

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus - Happy St. David’s Day weekend everyone!
We’re off to the beautiful in Aberaeron to spend the next two days with visitors, screen printing sweet souvenirs and greetings cards inspired by all things Welsh & the Llanerchaeron collections. This weekend is packed with things to do and see at their venue in celebration of Welsh culture, and we’ve prepared 6 different prints of Cymru icons to make help visitors remember the day. Zoom in to see some of the sweet illustrations we’ve made for our 2 days of craft, or come and visit to make one for yourself!

A day of adventures in antiques and illustrations at with 🩷
This weekend, Heidi and I are spending St.David’s day(s) at one of Wales’ most interesting National Trust properties - showing visitors how to screen print souvenirs inspired by the collections and Cymru history at Llanerchaeron in Ceredigion. Today we took ourselves off to this beautiful and historical family home to draw, photograph, and learn all about the objects (and their people) that are collected within the butter-yellow stone walls.
It’s been one of those days where I am kind of knocked over by the history and ornament of a place. Llanerchaeron is one of those venues that has a lot going on underneath the wallpaper. Noble (and also scandalous) past householders, a one-time estate landlady so loved that the whole town considered her their queen, a his and hers upper floor with interior design to match, all encased in an architects ‘comeback’ project with his own history included. Plus they have donated lifelong collections from a brick-a-brac loving artist-come-shopkeeper (Pamela Ward), and a man dedicated to saving and preserving farm and household machinery like Welsh clog making and wheel-writing (Geler Jones). The learning and historical revelations did not stop, all communicated to us by the deeply invested staff and via object and ornament.

It’s not for nothing that I have visited this place just as I am reading the first chapters of ‘s book - Craftland, which walks you through some of the vanishing or reviving crafts of Britain. You felt every person and their skill or their sentiment through the collections at Llanerchaeron. We have a lot to think about and draw ready for Saturdays workshops to start 😍
