Philip B Ward Limited

Philip B Ward Limited We started operating in 1983 armed with just 1 lorry. Now we have a fleet of 3 lorries but still going strong!!

23/12/2025

I can't believe I'm saying this when it only feels a few weeks ago I said it before, but another year has been and gone.

I can honestly say that 2025 has been a tough year so to be here at the end of it says something in itself.

Great distances covered and lots of deliveries made. (Approx 169,000kms altogether. Not bad for 3 of us!!)

Whether you are a customer that we have delivered 1 tonne to once or if we have delivered 1000's of tonnes to you over the course of the year we appreciate you supporting us and hope that we can continue to do so in 2026 and beyond.

Also, a massive thank you to Bryan. He has pounded up and down the M4 to Henbury and back into Tytherington to load for Swindon most of the year with no complaints. (OK maybe the odd one!!) and for that we really do appreciate all of your hard work this year.

2025 also saw us say goodbye to our longest serving member of the team. Tim Drury had been with us since 2003 before deciding on a quieter life back in April. Thank you for all your hard work over the years, Tim. Don't be a stranger.

Merry Christmas everyone and here's to 2026

To Layed

A recent customer of ours needed some silica sand to update their greyhound training area. Thank to Matt Pope at Hills Quarry Products we managed to source the material, get it delivered into our yard, bagged and delivered all to the customers satisfaction

Didn't realize we had been so quiet on the old social media this year. We must do better!!
We have had a busy and varied year so far. The weather has played into our hands and managed to get some jobs in before the rain came. We top soiled a new garden in a property and our groundwork team came out of retirement for a favor and cleaned out the brook in Crudwell. Tim has now retired from the team and we wish him all the best in his well deserved retirement. Thank you for everything over the years. You will be sorely missed.
The lorries have been flat out delivering here, there, and in Bryan's case, Bristol. We know it's not the most glamorous job but we do appreciate what you do.
The grab lorry has been busy, not only on the muck away side but also delivering our bagged materials. Not only do we do this for various local quarries but we also deliver our own materials that we bag on site. The latest of which was 20+ bags of Silica Sand that was sourced, delivered into the yard, bagged and delivered all within a couple of days. Now the greyhounds will have a lovely surface to train on.
As always, get in touch for all of your needs whether that's haulage, materials, muck away or bagged aggregates. We can cater to most needs.

And with that another year draws to a close.
It's had it's challenges and rewards but we're still here smiling at the other end.
thanks to all of our customers, old and new, who keep us going but without our fantastic members of staff we couldn't deliver the service that we strive for. Bryan, Tim, you've both gone above and beyond for us this year and it's greatly appreciated.
Here's to 2025 and all that it may throw at us. Hopefully my social media skills will improve next year (Don't hold your breath. I say that every year.

Merry Christmas to all of our followers. Eat, drink and be merry. Also, take care of yourselves and others!!

Introducing the newest member of the team. If you see this out and about give it a flash, or a wave, just to confuse Bryan if nothing else!! (He’ll be the one either very excited to drive a new lorry or extremely nervous about scratching it!!)
Thanks to Adam at MAN for all the help and support through the purchase process and to Steve at Total Impact for the great job with the signwriting.

Following last weeks post regarding our great leader's Tractor Run, Phil and Jenny would like to say the following:

We would like to thank everyone who helped make our Tractor Run in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance a great success. Our sponsors:-
The Thornton Family, for the use of their farm
Jesse Smith & WJ Castle Butchers for donating the bacon for the breakfast rolls
Eagle Plant Tetbury for donating a loo for the drivers to use
Malmesbury Marquees for supplying the tables and chairs
ELF sitters for help in organising donations

Also, a special thank you to Marcus Smith for cooking the bacon and Graham and Dawn Wasey for the superb photos.
We have raised £1350 for this very worthy charity. Thank you also to the supporters that encouraged our drivers on their 40 mile ride.

See you all next year!!

Our founding father and general leader of all things PBW is organising the following for this weekend:

Charity Tractor Run in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance

**Sunday 11th August 2024 **

**Do you have a classic tractor (pre 2000 and not over 100hp) and would like to take part in a tractor run in aid of this wonderful charity? **

Starting at Crudwell Court Farm (SN16 9EW) Cost is £25 to include bacon roll and tea/coffee on arrival and cakes and tea/coffee on return. (Please bring packed lunch). All tractors must have up to date tax for road use and insurance. A very picturesque route is planned.

If you just wish to give our drivers a wave (their highlight), they will be leaving the farm at 9.45 heading for Hankerton.

Bit of a late one this week. Been a tough one too. Started the week quietly but soon picked up and we were rushing around again. Topped off with a challenge of getting 15 tonnes of gravel into a job only a transit can get in. Luckily, rather than 15 trips to the quarry, a bit of teamwork with the grab lorry saw us do the job in a fraction of the time!!
Stay safe and hydrated this weekend. It could be a warm one!! 🍻🍻

Happy Friday folks

Firstly, what a scorcher of a week. It always makes life easier when it is warm and dry.

Another busy week, and indeed month, has been and gone. Luckily we have been busier than my "regular" posts have been. Lots of lorry work and catching up on a few groundwork jobs too just to keep us all busy. From forming bundings, to resurfacing driveways and extending roads. Our team knows no bounds!!

The lorries keep pounding the highways so if you see us out and about don't be afraid to give us a wave, just to confuse Bryan if nothing else!!

As always, keep safe and in this heat, keep hydrated. I know I will on this Friday evening!!

It with great sadness that due to ill health we have to announce the immediate retirement of our old faithful Iveco. We had some great adventures together from the early morning trips to Canterbury to a trip to Sandbanks to see how the other half live.
Don’t worry though as we have found an adequate replacement that we hope to have many adventures with for years to come!!
