Chair Woman

Chair Woman I loved it and have been rescuing other people’s well-loved furniture ever since. Professionally I started work in event management.

When I was pregnant with our second child, my daughter Sunny, it was my desire to give my favourite chair a new lease of life that inspired me to go to college to retrain and learn the art of upholstery. Re-upholstering furniture combines good old-fashioned craftsmanship with modern aspirations to re-use and recycle. Working by hand, using tools that have been passed down to me from my great grand

father I restore with love and care pieces that have become timeworn. Every project I take on is different but each one requires the same care and attention. I don't just re-cover furniture - in order to renovate pieces, I have to remove layers, restore the underlying structure and make everything sound. Recycling material where possible, I build them up again so that they are wonderfully comfortable as well as looking beautiful. Looking after people’s special occasions, such as weddings or other celebrations taught me how important it is to take care of the precious moments in other people’s lives. I take the same care when I’m re-upholstering cherished furniture and I share the thrill of bringing your beautiful pieces back to life.
