Behind every Sola kitchen is something that cannot be replicated by machinery alone: craftsmanship.

For the past 20 years, our kitchens have been handcrafted by skilled artisans in workshops across Sweden and Britain, where traditional cabinet-making techniques meet modern innovation.

From carefully selecting materials and hand-finishing cabinetry to the intricate detailing that defines every project, each kitchen is shaped by the expertise, precision, and pride of the people who make it.

While styles may evolve and trends may come and go, our commitment to craftsmanship remains unchanged.

Because true luxury isn't simply about how something looks, it's about how it's made.

20 years of making kitchens by hand.

Every June, Copenhagen makes a quiet argument for why design matters. This year, we went to look, to listen and to rethink.

3 Days of Design isn’t Milan. It doesn’t reward spectacle. It rewards substance, material honesty, restraint, craft shown in context rather than behind glass. For Sola, it felt like the right room to be in.

We left Copenhagen with more than we arrived with, not in the form of trends or references to import, but in the form of renewed clarity.

Milestone 02: The Evolution of Our Signature Styles

As we continue celebrating 20 years of Sola Kitchens, we're reflecting on the designs that have helped define our journey.

From the very beginning, our roots were firmly planted in traditional Scandinavian craftsmanship. Early collections such as Newport and Bernadotte embodied the timeless elegance and understated detailing synonymous with classic Swedish design, laying the foundations for the Sola aesthetic.

As the way we live evolved, so did our designs. Gustavian reimagined traditional Scandinavian cabinetry for modern living, while our iconic Hygge style introduced warmth, texture and simplicity, becoming a favourite among clients seeking a more contemporary expression of Scandinavian design.

In 2020, Skog launched and quickly became one of our most recognisable signature styles. Its distinctive routed timber slats helped redefine textured cabinetry and inspired a design movement that continues to influence kitchens today.

This spirit of innovation continued with Fjord, introducing a refined integrated handle detail, followed by Ström, our collaboration with Havwoods that celebrated natural timber textures and craftsmanship.

Most recently, Gerakas, created in collaboration with Miaki, brought together Scandinavian restraint and Mediterranean soul, marking a new chapter in the evolution of Sola Kitchens.

While our styles have evolved over the past two decades, the philosophy behind them has remained unchanged: timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, and kitchens designed to be loved for generations.

As we celebrate 20 years of Sola Kitchens, we're looking back at some of the milestones that have shaped our journey.

It all began in 2007, just one year after Sola Kitchens was founded, in a small garden studio in Wimbledon. Home to four employees (including two dogs 🐾), it gave us our first glimpse into the South West London market and the wonderful clients who helped establish the foundations of the business. We owe so much to those early years and the side-return extension projects that became synonymous with the area.

In 2011, five years after Sola Kitchens was founded, we opened our first showroom in Fulham, a significant step forward and a reflection of the growing demand for truly bespoke Scandinavian kitchens.

As the business continued to grow, a second showroom followed in Hampstead in 2016, allowing us to bring Sola Kitchens to a wider London audience and further establish our presence within the capital's design community.

Then, in 2022, came our flagship Wigmore Street showroom. Four years on, it continues to receive compliments from clients, architects, and designers alike and remains one of the most celebrated kitchen showrooms in the UK. More recently, we have expanded our offering even further to Bath & Bristol, bringing Scandinavian craftsmanship to a new audience beyond London.

From a garden shed to three inspiring spaces, our showrooms tell the story of how far we've come while remaining true to the values that started it all.

The Heart of Every Gathering. 🥂

This magnificent island in our Dumpling Bar kitchen is far more than a workspace, it’s the social centrepiece of the home, designed for family dinners, late-night conversations, and unforgettable moments with friends.

Seamlessly blending uptown-downtown wine bar aesthetics, the island is wrapped in hammered brass panels and topped with a bullnose-edged Silestone work surface, creating a bold yet refined focal point within the space.
