Heart of London Sangha

Heart of London Sangha Central London zen + mindfulness in the tradition of Plum Village and Thich Nhat Hanh. Regular meetup www.wakeplondon.org

"It is difficult if not impossible to practice the way of understanding and love without a sangha, a community of friends who practice the same way." Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of daily life. To be mindful is to be truly alive, present and at one with those around you and with what

you are doing. In practicing together as a Sangha, as a community, our practice of mindfulness becomes more joyful, relaxed and steady. We are bells of mindfulness for each other, supporting and reminding each other along the path of practice. With the support of the community, we can practice to cultivate peace and joy within and around us, as a gift for all of those we love and care for. We can cultivate our solidity and freedom - solid in our deepest aspirations and free from our fears, misunderstandings and suffering. When we meet for mindfulness practice:

Saturday morning - 10:15am to 1pm

Location:

Friends Meeting House
8 Hop Gardens (off St Martins Lane)
London
WC2N 4EA

Mats, cushions and chairs are available. Please also check out our younger sister sangha - Wake Up London - for people aged 16 to 35-ish.

Monastic students of Thich Nhat Hanh will offer an online retreat "How to Grieve" in July:

How can we find meaning, peace, and an orientation for our lives in times of change? Whether itโ€™s our personal journey of grieving, or our grieving for the losses sustained by our planet Earth, in this retreat we will learn how mindfulness can help us go through the process of grieving with more acceptance, peace and love.

More information and booking is available here: https://plumvillage.org/retreats/info/how-to-grieve/

It coincides with the forthcoming publication of a new book collecting Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on grief and loss, "How to Live When a Loved One Dies" which is available to pre-order from Parallax Press: https://www.parallax.org/product/how-to-live-when-a-loved-one-dies/

Our Return to In-Person Practice
Dear Friends

Our Saturday mornings of mindfulness are now available in two ways. Online through Zoom and in-person at the Westminster Quaker Meeting House close to Trafalgar Square.

Online
The online sangha will continue. If you would like to practice online, please continue with the current Zoom link. If you have not practised with us online already, registration details are on the Heart of London sangha Online Sangha Page.

In-person
We have resumed in-person meetings at the Westminster Quaker Meeting House. Please arrive between 10.15 and 10.30 am. Meetings end around 12.45pm.

The in-person meetings are limited to 22 participants. You are welcome to drop in, however, you can ensure a place by sending a simple I wish to attend next Saturday email to [email protected].

Although these two meetings are separate from each other at the moment, we are exploring how we might sometimes combine the online and in-person groups into one blended meeting. We remain one sangha.

We look forward to practising with you in either or both of these ways

A poem from 'Sister Chan Tu Nghiem' to celebrate the Spring Equinox

Spring Poem

The birds are still sleeping,
no sounds arise from the bamboo.
In the dark breathe of night the air is cool.
My heart is open to receive life.
