The Groomers Spotlight aims to highlight individual dog groomers that have achieved the full professional level 3 City and Guilds Diploma, The OCN West Midlands Grooming Qualification and The IPG Qualification. According to our survey, the majority of the public think that pet grooming is regulated and take it for granted that their groomer is fully qualified. This is unfortunately not the case. T

he Groomers Spotlight will direct you to your nearest Fully Qualified grooming individual and will give you a choice of whom to book in with and where to go for your pets specific needs. It will also give qualified groomers a platform to advertise themselves in a professional way and to add value to their work as they will be reachable wherever they work as long as they keep their profile up to date. Each spotlight member will have an individual membership number and profile page where they can tell you all about their strengths and achievements. It ticks so many boxes and we think it will help professionalise the industry and give kudos to those that have worked so hard to gain their full professional qualification.

What do you find most comfortable while still being practical for the job?

Hot spots tend to flare up more in warmer weather - and as groomers, we’re often the first to spot them 🧐

Hot spots are painful, inflamed areas of skin that can worsen quickly, especially when moisture gets trapped in the coat.

A few simple grooming habits can really help reduce the risk:

✨ Thoroughly dry double-coated breeds
✨ Check tools for rough edges or wear
✨ Rinse shampoo out properly
✨ Keep coats free from matting -  products like the Coat Management Detangler from can really help with this 👏🏻
 ✨ Watch for red, irritated, damp patches during the groom

And don’t forget - excessive licking or scratching can sometimes point to allergies, fleas, or underlying issues worth flagging to owners!

If you’ve ever spent a full day grooming, you’ll know just how warm salons can get - dryers running, dogs moving, constant activity ✂️💨

Now imagine going through that wearing a fur coat 🥵

Air conditioning isn’t just about comfort - it can play a huge role in keeping dogs safe, calm and comfortable during their groom

Warmer salon temperatures can be especially difficult for:

- Flat-faced breeds
- Older dogs
- Thick-coated dogs

❄️A cool, climate-controlled salon can help:

- Reduce heat stress
- Keep dogs more relaxed
- Create a safer grooming environment
- Make the day more comfortable for everyone
