995 Dinky toys. 50 years of collecting. £146,400 result 🚚
A private collection gathered since the 1970s just sold at Vectis Auctions in Stockton-on-Tees.
The die-cast vehicles date back to 1934 and were the brainchild of Frank Hornby. Production ran until 1980, with ∼1,000 different models made.
*Sale highlights:*
- Pre-war cream + maroon double-decker bus → *£4,655*
- Red 501 Foden diesel wagon (est £120-£140) → *£4,655*
- Burnt orange Foden flat truck (est £700-£900) → *£4,165*
Vectis said there was "competitive bidding" for the exceptionally rare Foden wagons + trucks.
Total far exceeded the £100,000 estimate.
