Restored 1956 Piero Fornasetti "Obelisco con Farfalle" Table Lamp
A rare and highly collectible mid-century architectural table lamp, designed by Piero Fornasetti (Milano, circa 1956). This iconic piece features a tapered obelisk form constructed from lithograph-printed sheet metal, decorated with Fornasetti’s legendary, vibrant "Farfalle" (butterflies) motif scattered across a cream-ivory lacquered background. The design beautifully contrasts rigid classical architecture with enchanted, natural gracefulness.
Restoration Work Conducted:
This historic object underwent a meticulous, museum-grade conservation process to preserve its high collector value. The vulnerable, lithographically transferred butterfly graphics and lacquered metal frame were carefully stabilized and precision-cleaned to eliminate decades of surface oxidation and grime without stripping the original patina. The solid brass accents and leveling feet have been hand-polished. To ensure full operational safety, the interior electrical systems have been completely modernized with premium, period-accurate braided cloth cord, a new inline safety switch, and a high-quality socket assembly. The original rear translucent Plexiglas light diffuser has been thoroughly cleaned and re-secured to emit a beautifully soft, atmospheric glow.
