The London Concortium of winds have collected 6 composers to join a project writing new pieces for wind consort and dance. The project starts in Autumn 2016, leading to a performance March 18th 2017 (venue TBC).
You will work with the composer over this period, and who will write a piece for one of the ensembles in the London Consorts of Winds. The ensembles are a clarinet choir, a double wind quintet, and a wind nonet.
In the autumn you will meet with the composer and the consort you are allocated to work with, and there will be further opportunities to meet and you will have further opportunities to try out ideas and drafts during that time. A particular date is the Consortium’s AGM on Saturday 25th February 2017.
There will also be access to mentoring and advice.
The pieces may last up to 10 minutes and the length and theme would be free for you and the composed to decide.
Please send a short CV and a short statement of the type of work you are interested in making and one or two short examples of your existing work to
[email protected]
by midday October 16th.
A small committee will match composers and dance artists and our main criteria is whether we think it will make an interesting and fruitful collaboration. We think this project is particularly suited to students with an interest in choreography and collaboration or recent graduates.
