Also tried gluing some offcuts of hardwood ply together the see how they 'turned' out. Quite a few voids that needed filling, but I don't think the look too bad. The finish on this is oil for a deeper shine, the last sleeper bowl was waxed.

Not wanting to waste 'proper' wood while still practicing, the first few bits I turned on the lathe were made from scrap wood, like this bowl made from an offcut of softwood sleeper. Not going to win any prizes, but any practice is good practice.

Satisfying little clips of de-masking the wardrobe doors. Obviously I didn't do the first one right, as Milo had to supervise the second one! And I had to do this in the house as it was too cold in the workshop at the time for the paint to dry! 🌈🖌🥶

I really enjoyed the small scale turning I did in the year before, so with the bedroom done I invested in a full size Axminster lathe. Expect to see lots more turned things in the next few weeks!

As well as the funky drawer fronts for the bedroom, I also did some funky wardrobe doors in a similar style. The big doors are sliders, hence no handles. Notice Milo heling out in the last picture.

I haven't posted much lately (in fact not at all last year) as there has been an lot going on, more on that later. So I'm going to try and catch you up on some things over the next little while, starting with the last few bits for that bedroom remodel. First up this waterfall resin river table. I know, river tables are not cool anymore, but I've never done one and wanted to try it. Turned out really well, and I love the metallic orange pigment.

Couple of interesting things in the shop this week. These 2 panels were originally part of a 4 section free standing screen, and I've been reliably informed They were made in Kashmir, and probably date from around 1920-30, the final decades of the British period. The detail of the carving on these is extraordinary, and considering their age they're in fantastic condition. Their days of being screens are probably over, but I think these would make a fantastic piece of wall art, maybe either side of a doorway, or framing a larger piece. If you know of anyone who might be interested give me a shout.

Lovely sunny winter walk round Bosham this week for Wifeys birthday. I think Milo enjoyed it too, even if we wouldn't let him have a goose! 🦢
