It’s been a while!

My first stencil in 11 months!

Part of a chest of drawers I’m working on. Hopefully to hit the shop floor next week.

Mid century style of course 😄 Nothing’s changed since I’ve been away.

I’m probably shouting to the void as I’ve been gone a while and I’m sure random funny cat and dog searches haven’t helped the algorithm 🫣

But they were fun at the time 🤣 Sure we’ll see what happens

One week until Christmas Eve!🎄

I’m working on my LAST commission of the year! 🎉
2024 has been a rollercoaster ride with plenty of ups and downs.
I know it might seem like I've been a bit quiet on Upainted's socials but I promise, I'm still here and still painting—just on a smaller scale for now!

Currently, I'm putting the finishing touches on a beautiful drinks cabinet for a lovely couple, just in time for their festive celebrations! 🍸🎄

A summer spent cleaning, sanding and painting.

Doesn’t sound that different to a typical summer for a professional furniture painter. Does it?

But this time it was on a much bigger scale and it was a job I thought would never end!

It was a summer of hard work, highs, lows and lots of laughs shared with friends.

It was worth it in the end to have a beautiful shop that’s passed all our expectations and that’s been received so well by our customers

To find out we are finalists in Firmus Energy Local Women Magazine Business Awards in the Best New Start Up category is truly the icing on the cake!

Hello again!👋

Wow, I took a break from social media, thinking it would be just for a week... but here we are, over 2 months later! 😱 Time really flies, doesn’t it? 🎃

As some of you know, I opened a bricks and mortar shop this summer, and it’s been so busy! I’m on a pretty steep learning curve but loving it so far.

Plus, I’ve had some unexpected family stuff to deal with. Because of all this, I haven’t been painting as much as I’d like, and I’ve really missed it!

Being back in my workshop these past two weeks has reminded me just how much I love it there. It truly is my happy place! Painting has helped me relax and deal with so much over the years❤️

Remember if you ever feel overwhelmed, take time for the things you love, spend time with family, and don’t be afraid to ask for help!

I’ve eased myself in with some fun pumpkin painting 🎃

But I’ll have some bigger painting projects to share with you all soon! 😄

Wonder where I’ve been. 😄

This is the reason I’ve been missing from social media in all its glory.

Delighted to finally share the frontage of my new shop. Hare and Hawthorn

I’ve been here practically every day over the past 6 weeks with my friends Emma from Atlantic Rose and Claire from
who’ve joined me in my mid life crisis 🤣

It’s been hard dusty, exhausting work every spare minute we’ve had but worth it. Fuelled with coffee and lots and lots of laughs it’s been an amazing couple of months.

In a high street that sees independent businesses close every day, we’re taking a leap of faith.

Serving our customers with unique hand crafted homeware and gifts. Plus quirky pretty things we’ve sourced from other small businesses across the UK and Ireland.

And of course my furniture 😉

To those of who have contacted me for commissions over the last few weeks, thank you for your patience. Normal service will resume shortly 😄

Paint pour!

I love using Fleur Paint UK marble paint pour medium. It never lets me down.

This was a commission for a lovely returning client who wanted something different.

This sideboard was the perfect size for under her TV in her beautiful sunroom but over time the doors had aged differently to the drawer fronts and basically she felt it was time for a change.

With teal blue being one of her favourite colours and already on the kitchen island we decided to stay with that colour pallet adding some navy blue and coppery gold to the paint pour.

Using Fleur Marble medium I went for a galaxy effect with the paint pour across the three doors.

Loved how they turned out. Totally unique.
Delighted to say My client loves it too. 💙👍

Exciting News! 🎉

I can finally share what I’ve been up to.

I've been flat out recently, working on a brand new project, and I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be opening a new shop in my local market town of Coleraine later this month 🥳

Introducing Hare & Hawthorn

Located in the historic part of the old customs house, right beside the lovely Infuse cafe, our shop is undergoing an incredible transformation.

It's taking a lot of hard work for myself and my business partners to restore this beautiful building to its former glory. From scraping tile adhesive off the floors to sanding and cleaning years-old grime, we've been putting in every ounce of effort to create a space that will truly captivate you. So, if you've spotted me strolling around town in my work clothes, covered in a layer of dust, now you know why! 😄

This week marks a monumental step forward as we finish the task of stripping the wallpaper from the stunning vaulted ceiling. Yes, you heard that right – a vaulted ceiling! This architectural gem dates back to 1785, adding a touch of grandeur to our humble abode.

We’re on a mission to offer you a shopping experience like no other.

Work in progress

This mid century drinks sideboard has been in my stash of furniture patiently awaiting it turn for a couple of years!

The veneer hasn’t survived the best in places so I’ve worked out a design to celebrate the veneer that did while hiding the not so good spots 😄

Just the finishing touches now and some tidying up where there’s a bit of paint bleed through.

Pretty little nest of tables

This set of tables holds sentimental value to my client. They belonged to her husbands mum.

Dark and old fashioned they didn’t suit her home.

She wanted light, Parisian, with some pink highlights so that’s what she got 😄

I really enjoyed working on these, got to colour wash and use transfers again. Proper play session and just what I needed.

Goes to show you should never part with your dark brown furniture. There’s always something that can be done with it.
