Did you know we also make kitchen bar stools...? Here's a couple of examples in Oak and Walnut, steel and leather. As they are all bespoke and handcrafted we can design them to fit with your existing kitchen, making them a quick and easy update!

The seat pads for the Oak counter-height stools were hand-carved from Oak grown on the client’s grandfather’s own woodland near Isfield in Sussex. We crafted four of these for Angus as well as a bay window table from the same Oak, which was also used to make a live-edge table and bench for his brother George. No-one can say that we let an ounce of fabulous timber go to waste!

The Walnut, leather and raw steel bar stools were made for Marissa in Cookham, Surrey. We also crafted a breakfast bar extension and statement-piece dining table for her using the same timber.

So, we're in the process of revamping our website (do check it out at handmadeinbrighton.com, feedback very welcome, please be kind!) consequently I've been trawling through our extensive (as it turns out 😊) portfolio of commissions from the last decade.

This piece was the first large live-edge dining table we made way back in 2015 for our lovely client Marissa in Cookham, Surrey, who famously said that it was her favourite thing in the whole house, and that included her husband and children (!). I think she was only partly joking 🤣.

It's hand-crafted from three joined European Walnut slabs incorporating organically shaped “hand-holds”, plus an embedded 120 million year old Cleoniceras Ammonite fossil and Mahogany bow-keys (a traditional woodworker's way of joining two pieces of wood).

Finish: Satin Osmo Polyx hardwax-oil (). Legs: Trapezium steel leg frames.

We also crafted her a breakfast bar extension and two stools using the same gorgeous timber (pics to follow).

A few more progress shots of the undersides of the live-edge Sussex Elm breakfast bars for Sunil from a few weeks ago. The tinting and finishing work is currently being completed on the tops ready for delivery soon!

Thanks to Saran for some excellent photos of the bespoke 2.4m long single-slab English Walnut table we crafted for him and his lovely young family. We're so happy to see the new home you've created finished and looking great!

As woodworkers we love working with this rare and very unique hardwood - it doesn't become available very often, so we jump at the chance when we find it. Interior designers value it for the deep, rich colour and intricate grain pattern that adds depth and gravitas to even light hearted design concepts.

Finally... the sun has started to come out, after what seems like three or four months of solid rain! Let's celebrate that at last 😊😊.

A few last process shots of last week's delivery to Saran and his young family in their beautifully refurbished Islington townhouse project. It's crafted from amazing (and rare as hen's teeth!) English Walnut - 65mm thick, single slab 2.6m x avg. 95cm, with bespoke fabricated legs.
