Not many clients specify for a bamboo basement kitchen - but we did.

The basement of our showroom presents a challenge for most designers; it's below ground level, there is no natural light, and the ceiling is low and has gorgeous original 18th-century beams.

Everything needed to be slight, but robust. We combined the lovely grain of bamboo and dusty pink Dekton, both measuring just 12mm - many countertops are 30mm, so this is a fraction of the site - and inset sleek modern appliances from the Novy Panorama hob to the Neff Slide and Hide oven. These colours worked well in low light, and the materials maximised the available space.

We turned it from a dark basement corner to a beautiful contemporary kitchen and creative space, which was a finalist for best showroom at the Designerati Awards. One of the recent projects we're most pleased with.

Some clients we've made one kitchen for, but with others we've been invited from home to home.

We're currently working with three clients we've worked with before. It's something we're quietly proud of: they know how we work, love the quality of our design and build, and we know what matters to them: from the small details to the big picture.

Follow-on projects are never the same - tastes change, rooms change, the whole brief can shift radically - but the trust and relationship is established, so it makes knowing what to focus on that little bit easier.

One of Tessa Clark's clients moved shortly after their first kitchen was installed. The second kitchen was completely different - different style, different appliances, different everything, but there was joy was in starting fresh with people she already knew.

Tessa has her fingers crossed they'll move again - just because she'd love to spend more time together.

The Lander Table - designed by Ollie Clark, built in our Plumpton workshop, and if you've visited the showroom, you've almost certainly sat at it.

It started as a piece for the showroom: somewhere for clients to sit with a designer, spread out material samples and talk through a project. Floating mortise and tenon joints, FSC solid oak, available in fumed or oiled finish. The kind of furniture that gets better as it gets used.

41 Cliffe High Street. Everything in here we make ourselves.

We've designed the space to be a working example of the full extent of our craft. The drinks cabinet in the window was designed by Ollie Clark, and built in our Plumpton workshop. The meeting table at the back is our Lander Model, built from solid oak. The shelving units that display handles, materials and our design postcards are original designs from Sarah Eynon.

That's before the display kitchens: a mix of contemporary, classic and ultra modern to show our range and versatility. Our showroom can give a glimpse of the scale of bespoke design, but they'll come to life in a meeting with one of our designers.

Our showroom kitchen is now featured on the website - the Barwick Appliance and Cabinet Pulls in aged brass, fitted to our modern Shaker.

We chose the Barwick range for the showroom because the proportions work; the length of the pull against the run of cabinetry feels considered - elegant without drawing overt attention to itself. That's why we keep coming back to Armac Martin, for the considered design, weight, and their classic finishes.

Our bespoke process allows design to feel complete, ensuring all elements complement rather than stand out.
