If you’re in the early stages of planning a kitchen, storage decisions can feel surprisingly big — especially when it comes to heavier items.

Pan drawers are a brilliant option because they pull fully out, keep everything visible, and reduce bending and rummaging. Placement often works best near the cooker, or in an island if that’s where prep happens.

To make planning easier, we’ve created a free Pan Drawer Planning Checklist. It’s designed to help you think through:
✅ what each drawer will store
✅ where drawers should sit in your layout
✅ simple organisation (including ideas for crockery + inserts)

A small early-spring comfort: a proper mug, a warm drink, and a kitchen that feels calm to be in.

We love the everyday details — the pieces you reach for without thinking — because they’re often what make a kitchen feel like home. A favourite mug, a clear worktop, a place for everything… it’s the quiet stuff that makes mornings easier.

If you’re planning a new kitchen this year, don’t just think about how it will look — think about how it will feel in daily life, year after year.

March is when the light starts to shift — brighter mornings creep back in, but evenings can still feel a little gloomy. It’s often the point people realise their kitchen lighting isn’t quite working as hard as it needs to.

A simple approach we recommend is layered lighting:
• Task lighting where you prep and cook
• Ambient lighting for an overall warm feel
• Feature lighting (pendants over an island, or a gentle glow on shelving) to make the room feel inviting

It’s worth planning lighting early, alongside layout and storage — it makes the finished kitchen feel comfortable from morning coffee to evening tidy-up, not just “fine” in the middle of the day.

Not every kitchen comes with straight walls and perfect 90° corners — and honestly, that’s part of the charm.

This handpainted kitchen in Farrow & Ball Olive, with Armac Martin hardware in matt black, was designed around how our clients actually use the space (not how a plan says they “should”). From careful measuring to fitting on site, the goal was a kitchen that feels seamless and works beautifully day to day.

This lovely message came in as a Google review, and we’re genuinely grateful 😊 It’s always a privilege to be part of a home renovation like this.

A kitchen project can feel like a big undertaking — so we’re always mindful that the experience matters just as much as the finished result.

One thing clients often mention is the care: the attention to detail, the feeling of being looked after, and a careful, precise and tidy installation process — with real pride taken in getting everything just right.

That’s what we aim for: clear guidance, thoughtful workmanship, and a finish that feels settled and reassuring when you walk into the room.

This former Georgian rectory, set along the Suffolk Heritage Coast, called for a kitchen that felt calm, classic, and completely at home in its period setting.

One of our favourite details is the island: hand-painted in a rich ‘Under The Wave’ blue by Fired Earth, it beautifully contrasts with the ‘Beachcomb Grey’ cabinetry. The rounded legs and handcrafted curved top rail soften the scale of the island and make it feel gentle in the space.

And then there’s the crisp white Aga — framed by a mantle and paired with an elegantly glazed crockery display cupboard.
It’s those considered touches that make a kitchen feel “always belonged”.

Modern life moves fast — but good craftsmanship doesn’t.

Taking time to do something well is still central to creating something special. It’s why we invite clients to visit the workshop, meet the makers, and see their kitchen taking shape. People often tell us it’s heartwarming to watch the care that goes into every detail.

A handmade kitchen isn’t about rushing to the finish line — it’s about building something that feels right, lasts well, and becomes part of your home’s story.

If you’re in the early planning stage, DM us the word VISIT and we’ll share how a workshop visit works.

A lot of the “feel” of a kitchen comes down to the finish — and for us, hand-painting is a key part of that.

Before a kitchen leaves our workshop, it receives a hand-painted finish for a softer, high-quality look. Hand-painting gives a depth and character that’s hard to replicate, and it also allows us to work closely with you on colour so the kitchen sits naturally with the rest of your home.

February light can be grey and flat — which is exactly why we love seeing colour and craftsmanship come to life in the workshop right now.

A finished burst of colour in the workshop 🧡
This crockery storage cupboard, hand-painted in Farrow & Ball Charlotte’s Locks, is a vibrant, joyful shade that adds real personality.
The rest of the kitchen is being kept soft cream, so this cupboard becomes a little moment of colour rather than the whole room.
Would you add a bold accent like this in your kitchen?

Island or peninsula — it’s one of the most common layout questions we’re asked, especially at this time of year when lots of people are planning spring projects.

A few quick pointers:
• Choose an island if you’ve got comfortable circulation space around it (think easy movement, not squeezing past). Islands can be brilliant for prep, storage and informal seating.
• Choose a peninsula if you want the “island feel” but your room shape or walkways need more structure — it can define the kitchen zone without eating up the centre of the room.

The best choice always comes back to how you use the kitchen: is it a family hub, a serious cooking space, or both?
