When my Mum and Dad set up Browns DIY 65 years ago they had no idea it would turn into the institution that it has done. Over the last few months since I announced we would would be closing I have been overwhelmed by the response. I knew there would be a few messages but I wasnβt expecting the reaction that happened. I had 147K views on my first post. Newspapers contacted me and because of our reason for closing we started being tagged in political posts - we didnβt mind that because it felt like our community had our backs and they were genuinely upset to see us close. I have had hundreds of messages since then and so many people coming in to tell me their frustrations. One lady rang up actually broke down in tears because we had helped her husband so much over the years.
This outcry means everything to us. We very much felt; and still feel needed in our town. π€π Our shop was our reason for being and itβs going to leave a huge hole in our lives and my Dad Cyril absolutely does NOT want to retire!! ππ€
However - yesterday arrived and this was our final day - as a family we were blown away again by the number of people who came in to see us. It was great to have a chat and a drink and share stories with so many people. The shop was full all day! π€π
We could not have made it to 65 years without our customers and we are so grateful to you all and would like to say a huge THANK YOU to every single person who has supported us over the years. π€π
And to Tina who has been with us for over 24 years - what a smiling superstar she is - I know so many of you will miss her too. ππ€
Love to you all π€ππ€ππ€ππ€π
