A lovely morning session with members at a local community shed. An introduction to whittling with local willow - the first of three sessions. As discussion turned to crochet, the whittling of a wee hook led to an impromptu demo from one of the ladies (I have never been able to crochet!). Looking forward to the next one ๐Ÿ™‚

Came home with some chutney, and comb honey from the allotment bees on site. Happy days!

A lovely day spent with a group from Blesma, The Limbless Veterans - a charity supporting veterans and their families across Scotland. An introduction to knife-craft today, to be followed by other sessions where we'll begin to look at spoon carving.

A thoroughly enjoyable day, and always a pleasure to collaborate with charities working so hard to find meaningful (not to mention mindful) experiences and new skills for those they support.

> Into to knife-craft for younger makers...
> Thursday 24th July, 1-4pm

Still a few places on this week's kids' whittling workshop. Come as a duo (youngster and an adult) and learn how to whittle together, safely and creatively. Everything you need is provided, and the ticket price is for you both, not each. Take away what you make, and the skills to continue confidently at home.
An awesome summer holiday memory-maker ๐Ÿ™‚

Please feel free to share if you know someone who'd love this!

A magical day spent with this wonderfully creative bunch, who make-up a local Montessori class. Free play in abundance, exploring the walled garden at Glassmount, harvesting and crafting with willow bark, and an intro to whittling with knives. A happy group, and me left feeling we're lucky to work with the groups we host ๐Ÿ™‚

If you want to discuss giving your group a similarly experience, feel free to get in touch. We work throughout the school holidays too, offering both private groups and scheduled workshops (numerous dates just added to the website).

OPEN STUDIO: 31ST MAY / 1ST JUNE
Next weekend the bothy opens its doors for an open studio; part of the exciting new Forth Bridges Creative Trail. If you've ever fancied seeing bothy without taking the plunge booking a workshop, chatting to us about what we offer, or maybe you've been numerous times but want to pop-up for a cuppa, we'd be happy to see you. A selection of work produced in the workshops we offer will be on display, for reference.

The Trail is a new initiative, inviting visitors to explore artistsโ€™ studios, public spaces, and pop-up exhibitions on both sides of the Firth of Forth. Showcasing a diverse range of work by over 30 creatives including art, ceramics, painting, jewellery, textiles and wood craft.

If you fancy a trip over to visit the bothy, why not take the opportunity to explore the walled garden at Glassmount House (the grounds of which the bothy is located in). The gardens are magical, and a favourite venue on Scotlandโ€™s open garden scheme. There's no admission fee but they owners kindly ask for a ยฃ6 donation per adult, 100% of which is donated to Parkinsons UK.

You'll find About the Trees at Glassmount House, by Kirkcaldy. Up the hill behind Kinghorn, essentially. If you need precise directions please DM me, but Glassmount is clearly labelled on Google Maps, and there'll be signs up at the end of our drive.

For more details of the wider event, please see .
Hope to see some of you next weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

A lovely day's spoon carving at the bothy today. And three very different (equally awesome!) first spoons for the boys. I should have got more photos, but lack of phone pics is surely the sign of a good day...

For those of you who've visited, or even just followed the build of the bothies remotely, you'll probably know how chuffed Peter and I were to finally get the doors on the wee bothy. Such a sweet space and, now, a bit more protected from days that can look a little wilder than this one...
