Those closest to me know and those who regularly pop into the shop know the struggle I've had with my back and right leg. Almost 2yrs of constant right foot numbness and weakness of my right foot (S1 for those in the know). In April of this year, I had the worst flare up and since then the pain in my right leg, and particularly my foot, has been constant and worsening. It has significantly reduced my capacity to perform normal activities of daily living (ADL's) and I've not been able to do any physio clinic work or furniture. MRI in May showed a lot of issues and confirmed the S1 compression due to a large herniated disc. It also showed a few synovial cysts, hypertrophied facet joints and central spinal stenosis. Assessed by Neurosurgeon in August and put on the expedited list for surgery. Today I had my pre-op assessment and all was good and my discectomy will this Wednesday. So, if you can, send some positive vibes for a safe and successful procedure. Hope to start the new year off able to do more normal things and back to doing some creative furniture upcycles 😊
