Hull’s fishing history isn’t just part of our city’s past. For many of us, it’s part of our family. ❤️
We’re proud to have our Rydan furniture showroom in Hull, and even prouder to call this city home. For me, that connection runs much deeper than business.
I had the pleasure of spending part of my birthday at Northern Films, chatting with Andrew about Hull’s fishing heritage. His stories were incredible, especially those about my dad, Peter Broderick, who sadly passed away when I was a teenager.
Andrew told me about a night Dad was washed overboard. Hearing a story about him that I’d never heard before was something very special.
I’m sharing a photo from that very night, although I’m certainly not suggesting that whatever was going on in the picture had anything to do with him ending up in the sea! 😂
Dad also appears in the centre of the wall mural at Northern Films, surrounded by his fishing friends, crewmates and family. Seeing him there means more than I can put into words.
These stories deserve to be remembered, and the people behind them deserve to be celebrated.
Northern Films have done an amazing job bringing our fishing heritage to the screen through *The Last Ship*, featuring the famous Arctic Corsair.
Please give them your support, watch the documentary, and go along to see the film when it’s available. For families like mine, keeping these memories alive means everything. Love Trina⚓❤️
