This commemorative plaque was destined for a skip during a church renovation. It was fortunately rescued by some parishioners who brought it to us to see if we could restore it to its former glory. We were able to use traditional skills and finishes and it now hangs back in its original position at St James Church, Uldale, having been originally make in the late 1700’s.

Always so important to pass on skills, even at a young age. Learning to use a hand a hand plane and carving chisels. They is an artist in everyone, just needs nurturing.

Happy New Year!!! A frosty start to the week but we are back to it and open. Ready to continue those special commissions and unique designs. About to start a very long piece of hand carving so today will be continuing a practice section. Chisels all sharpened! So unique to be able to make a piece with added personal detail and storytelling. Watch this space.

Really enjoy it when we are asked to solve a problem. The customers specification was to be able to display these beautifully embroidered panels and to be able to move them around. We designed these simple stands which don’t interfere with the panels and added a curve so they can link together. No problem is too big or small to solve.

Style and elegance in a console table. The beautiful Mackintosh inspired flower detail follows down the legs. This piece was made from ash and burr oak and had two hidden drawers. One very happy customer.

New Life……found this perfectly formed sprouting oak whilst we were doing some ground works recently and it reminded me that from a small acorn comes mighty oaks! From our creative ideas can form amazing designs and projects. This tiny oak has now been planted and who knows maybe one day in years to come it will provide shelter, food for wildlife, fun for children to climb, a subject for an artist, or even timber for a cabinetmaker.
