It's great to get out and about to see what happens to our timber once it has left the yard, from tree to treated off sawn timber. Just around the corner from the Sawmill one of our island legends a contract fencer and prize highland cattle 🐮 herdsman who goes by the name of (Scooby) 🐕 has been busy putting up a new boundary fence. This combination of 100mmx 25mm rail and 100mmx100mm post will last here for many years to come.

Here's a few snaps of the Larch harvested a few days ago by our amazing in house forestry team. Watching these guys at work is a real pleasure. You honestly wouldn't know that they have worked on this site. The trees have been recovered now and are awaiting conversion into bespoke cladding.

Big Bertha Green and Isla the Sawmill spaniel both in their element today!

We are currently working in collaboration with our amazing forestry colleagues here at Mount Stuart to extract some bespoke size Larch for an exciting little up and coming project.

What these guys and girls don't know about sustainable forestry isnt worth knowing.

They combine a number of traditional felling and extraction techniques with one or two pieces of modern technology to get the job done safe and efficient.

Our Biomass production at Bute Sawmillkeeps us busy through the year. We supply this fuel to Mount Stuart House and an increasing number of properties on Bute. Thankfully we have a skilled team who are on hand to fire up the wood chipper. Robert Duncan Zimmerman knows a thing or two about that perfect wood chip! Check out this video taken by Petri Aro

Nestboxes made by us from Larch grown here on Bute and obtained from the sawmill. Only £8.50 from Picture Bute, and the birds love them.
