Hello all, I have had an enquiry about doing an online workshop for making a leather sheath for a "hori hori" knife (like the one in the picture attached but so much nicer !).
They are a really useful knife/trowel tool from Japan and wonderful for weeding and planting out in the garden.
I would have thought the workshop would be a morning or afternoon - 3 hours. It would be suitable for beginners and you would learn how to finish the edges of the leather and the two needle saddle stitch along with all sorts of information on leather too. I would prepare the leather and send the materials to you in advance of the workshop.
Let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested and we can arrange a date to suit the availability of the group.

Hello everyone! I hope this finds you well in these strange but potentially revolutionary times. Yet again I haven't been very present on social media in recent months (years?!) but I wanted to let you know about some things I have been up to. I have been working on some kits and online workshops for anyone who might be interested in learning leatherwork.
I have REALLY missed running workshops this last year and I would love to try and recreate some of the magic of making things together with folks while also passing on some skills which you will be able to use in other projects, whether that is making something from scratch or repairing something. You can make up the kit on your own if you feel confident to do that or you can join me on zoom for some live tuition if we can get a few people together. The kits are really in-depth, not just a stitch by numbers approach so you will learn a lot I hope :)
So let me know if you or anyone you know is interested and we can take it from there :) It would be lovely to see some of you and craft some love, kindness and togetherness into our lives.

I have some lovely one-off pouch bags for sale which I have made in Sedgewicks black bridle shoulder. Sedgewicks are a company based in Walsall and produce some wonderful leather for the saddlery trade. It is lovely stuff. They are £80 including gift wrapping and postage. New belts in stock too, made with some beautiful bridle leather all produced in the UK. The dark havana (dark brown) is sourced from Bingley in the north of England and the Chestnut is from Walsall, the traditional home of bridle and saddlery in the UK. These belts will last you a long time and are available in 1'' and 1 1/2'' widths as standard but please get in touch should you want something in between or wider :)

All belts are packaged in 100% recyclable packaging, the tissue paper even gives you a little lecture on why we all need to think about what we throw away and is produced in a water powered mill in Lancashire :)

Tomorrow I am showing my work at the Ruskin Mill Christmas Fair in Horsley, near Stroud. It's a beautiful venue with lots of possibilities for walks while you're there and a cup of tea and delicious cake in the cafe. There will be all sorts of crafts on display and blacksmithing demonstrations and drop in candle making and wreath making workshops. I'm really looking forward to it!

The first thing is that I am running a workshop at Hawkwood College just outside Stroud. It will be an introduction to leatherwork and will be taking place on the 1st December. If you know anyone in this direction then pass on the info. It will be a perfect opportunity to make some presents for Christmas :) to find out more, follow this link ...

This workshop will get you started with the basic skills needed to make a leather belt and a simple coin purse. With these skills you will then be able to go on to make bags, simple sandals and shoes as well as repairs to existing things you might have which need a bit of TLC!

Hello everyone! I have been very neglectful of social media this year! However I have been a busy bee in Stanley the van enjoying all that he brings to life :) I am now settled in Stroud for the Winter and working on a community farm part time while working on my leatherwork too. I have a few things in the pipeline already, more of which I will post here soon. Until then I hope you are all enjoying the last days of Autumn before Winter takes hold and we all go into hibernation :)

I'm so excited to be doing workshops at the Folk Forest in Sheffield later on this Summer 21st and 22nd July. I will be doing short workshops on making small purses and leather belts in the beautiful surroundings of Endcliffe Park.
