We have an exciting new course, held at the National Trust, Heritage and Rural Skills Centre, Swindon on Sunday, 28th June. During the day you will have the opportunity to try out four of our most popular heritage decorative paint techniques, faux marbling, wood graining, malachite stone and crackle glaze.
This introductory course has been specially designed for those who have an interest in learning how these ancient crafts are created and get hands on experience mixing and applying specialist paints and glazes.

We had a fantastic time with our brilliant students in the glorious summer sunshine, at the wonderful National Trust, Heritage and Rural Skills Centre, Swindon.
We took a deep dive into traditional heritage decorative paint techniques and surface preparation on our unique, CPD accredited, fundamentals course.
We then embraced our inner crafting nature and took a journey into the world of stencilling and gold leaf application.
I would like to say a big thank you to all those who attended the two days for making it such a memorable and fulfilling time.

Passing Down Heritage Crafts & Upskilling for the Future! 🛠️🎓

As we celebrate Learning at Work Week 2026 under the theme "Many Ways to Learn," I've been reflecting on how education takes many forms. I'm passionate about passing down endangered heritage crafts to the next and future generations by imparting my professional expertise and knowledge through numerous CPD accredited workshops and courses.

It is incredibly rewarding to spend time teaching my son (pictured above) these traditional and ancient techniques—proving that learning by doing is just as vital and valuable as structured training!

How are you and your team celebrating different ways to learn this week? 👇

The faux marbling work to the columns is going well and will soon be completed, we have now started on the fireplaces, which are in need of some careful restoration. The fire surround pictured here has been finished with a combination of faux marbling and wood graining techniques, they have unfortunately suffered a little damage over the years, it's a pleasure to be able to bring it back to its former glory.

Great progress is being made on the columns, we have now completed two and the third column is well on the way. Marcus's training is proceeding nicely, he is working hard and learning fast, he is now able to complete several stages of the faux marbling work on his own, it's great to be able to pass on my years of experience to someone so enthusiastic.
If you would like to learn ancient skills such as traditional faux marbling, I run both one-to-one and small group workshops from my studio in Hythe, Kent and at the Heritage and Rural Skills Centre, National Trust Swindon
