The Man Who Makes

The Man Who Makes Bespoke furniture and homeware, handcrafted in Yorkshire by the man who makes (and mends stuff too!) Talk to me about your ideas. As a kid, lego was my thing.

Here’s a bit more info about The Man Who Makes...

I’ve got the job the five year old me always dreamt about. And dismantling toys to understand how to put them back together again. At the age of 17, I was making windows and doors. By 21, I was fitting them too, on state of the art buildings throughout the UK. And it became such a specialism, that for the last six years, I’ve travelled the length

and breadth of the country, maintaining windows and doors for everyone from high street retailers, to Air Force bases. But this journey from fabricating to fixing doesn’t just describe the ‘day job’. Im always making and mending. Reclaiming old pieces of wood to give them a new lease of life. Transforming an under-utilised space into clever and beautiful storage. Turning friends’ furniture ideas into reality. And what began as a hobby - a passion for creating - has now grown to the point that I could leave the corporate world behind. So, I am so the man who makes:

⁃ Bespoke furniture for your home and workplace - tables, desks, benches, easels, bars and more. Whether you can already picture the perfect piece or you’re looking for inspiration, the sizes, materials and finish can be completely customised to your requirements.

⁃ Handcrafted ‘finishing touches’ including shelves, storage boxes, frames, and coat hooks. And of course, I can still fix faulty windows and doors that need a bit of TLC - from changing glass and repairing locks and mechanisms, to fully restoring timber installations to transform the appearance of your home. Because as the man who makes, I can build and mend too. Other services include:

⁃ Assembling flat pack furniture
⁃ Restoring and resurfacing existing furniture
⁃ Even putting up pictures! Please message me to chat through what you need.

It’s been a while…

I’ve barely posted on here, since my knee op back in late 2023! 🙈

But things have been far from quiet!

I’m mid-way through project managing two major house renovations, (expect progress shot spam!) and my lovely customers have kept me busy with custom-made furniture requests, repairs, restorations, flat-pack assemblies, and the sort of DIY that’s constantly on your ‘to do’ list!

So look out for plenty of updates, transformations, tips, and BTS pics. I hope you enjoy what I’ve been getting up to!

Thank you for your continued support 🔨

This won’t impact on messages to customers, but the diary will be cleared for at least two weeks until I’m back up on my feet.

If there’s anything you’d like to book in now from late October, through to December, please let me know.

Divide and conquer!

When ScribaPR needed help transforming their new office, we worked together closely to design ways to break up and ‘zone’ a large open plan space.

This simple room divider:

⁃ created structure in the room without blocking light
⁃ provided a backdrop to a relaxed seating area
⁃ offers hanging space for their little hooked planters
⁃ celebrates the qualities of the wood itself without over-engineering the look

As with most of my work, this was made to measure and entirely bespoke - so let’s talk dimensions, colours and finishes.

Would make a great piece for an apartment, mixed-use kitchen diner, or living area big enough to accommodate a home office, for example.
