There are only a handful of makers in the Uk who can turn a nest of bowls on a (foot-powered) bowl lathe.
The challenge is to turn multiple bowls from a single bowl blank, creating a true set.
Well here is a fine example by .whittaker Notice how the grain pattern runs through all three.

In my workshop this morning roughing out benches for Isaac Holden’s hearse house in Ninebanks.
Built in the 1850s and now beautifully restored as a shelter for walkers, the Hearse House will soon house these traditional wooden benches. A treat to be involved with such a great historical project!

Thanks to Turning Earth ceramics studio, London for the beautiful images of my work. This is an oak timber frame mezzanine I made for their opening. And a recent table top in spalted beech. Good Northumbrian wood.

Wide-bowled scoop in aged apple wood.
Over time the wood has darkened to a deeper nut-brown colour. Available to purchase.

A pleasure to make this table top in spalted beech for Turning Earth ceramic studio in London. So glad to hear its being well used by busy potters on their tea break!
