Dave Weaver Upholstery The home of upholstery in Hereford The name Weaver is synonymous for upholstery in Hereford.

Welcome to Dave Weaver Upholstery where we design and create a range of upholstery items direct from our Hereford based workshop. Dave is the son of Melvyn Weaver who is the Weaver of "Wilkes and Weaver" which was based in Offa Street back in the 70's . Dave worked alongside his dad for many years at Offa Street, Mortimer Road and Whitestone before he took the plunge to go on his own. Since that t

ime he has worked both at Mortimer Road and Red Barn Drive and now is in the fortunate position of being able to work from his home-based workshop just on the outskirts of Hereford on the Canon Pyon Road. Due to the lack of upholsterers in Hereford and the increased demand in people wanting to reupholster Dave's wife Carley left her job in the NHS to come and work alongside him. Initially this was meant to be temporary just to help whilst Dave branched out on his own but due to the ever-increasing work load, she has continued to work along side him and help to grow the business to what it is now. It is not unusual for her to be sending emails of a morning and by afternoon be knee deep in stripping and prepping furniture for Dave work his talents on. Dave and Carley have worked with a diverse portfolio of clients including both domestic and commercial customers, creating everything from small bespoke pieces to fully kitting out bars and restaurants. They have been involved in the industry for many years now and have gained an understanding of the best practices in order to create truly outstanding pieces. They have experience of creating a range of upholstery products including chairs, sofas, ottomans and headboards. They do also under take car seat repairs (cigarette burn removal, replacement panels, burst stitching and degraded foam) both for local garages and private customers.

Beautiful blue skies for our blue deliveries today.

80’s Ercol 3 seater sofa and armchair has had a modern makeover to bring it up to date with the current Ercol style and a few palette pleasing scatter cushions made too.

Pair of early 2000’s Multiyork Bridgewater arm sofas given a luxurious makeover
 after being reupholstered by Dave Previously 10 years ago.

DFS chair completely transformed into a very beautiful statement chair.

Complimentary scatter cushions and a a little footstool covered in the “scraps” - the left over pieces of the printed velvet made lovely additions to the scatter cushions.

This vintage French style sofa and armchair has had a complete overall.

All new modern fillings applied in a traditional manner, the woodwork has been taken black and then the new fabric applied with a matching double piped finishing edge.

Goodbye from here đŸ€

As many of you will know Dave has been suffering with his health (back and hernia) for a few years now.

We have taken the huge decision to scale things back to enable us to have more of a “work to live” life than the “live to work” life we have been on for the last 5 years. We are very much looking forward to a slower and simpler life and seeing where the next chapter takes us.

We will still be working but just on a much smaller scale (and from a friends workshop whilst we find our new home)

We do still have availability in time for Christmas but unfortunately we will not be able to share the “Ta Da” after photo in our beautiful hallway that has been the backdrop to so many of our projects.

30 plus years of upholstering and this was the first time asked to do this!

We were asked about padding old oak beams as the taller members of staff kept hitting their head (They were taller than Dave, Jess Sheers and Tom)

It needed to look in keeping with the beautiful old converted barn.

We added dense foam to the underside of the beams with a chamfered edge to the sides and a layer of Dacron to soften.

We then covered it in a complimentary stain resistant velvet.

And studded the 32.5 meter finishing edge - luckily not single studded but each meter of stud did still need 20 studs hitting in (not forgetting all the misses 😂)

Hopefully the industrial mind your head is now not needed!

Beautiful collection of Victorian pieces of furniture completely restored and upholstered in Linwood fabrics Kimono Dreams.

The client initially just wanted the pair of chairs to be reupholstered but on seeing how beautiful the slightly metallic deep piled premium printed velvet looked on them they added another chair, then another, then a piano stool, then a dressing table chair and finally a pair of scatter cushions ! The double piping to the finishing edge added a really nice touch too 😊

Very large sectional sofa that was purchased in California has now had a full makeover and enjoying its new Border Oak Home in Herefordshire.

It has had a few tweaks-
New seat cushions
New loose back cushions (originally they were attached)
Skirt detail removed and it now has lovely turned wooden legs.

And looks beautiful in Linwood Lars which is still one of our favourite fabrics to work with.

Following a recommendation from a previous client we were asked to help with reupholstering 5 “Barn find” chairs, the recovering of a large sofa and making of a bespoke HUGE footstool to go with the sofa 
 this all happened remotely as the client is currently in Dubai!

All chairs have been stripped back to the frame, re secured, all woodwork French polished and then new modern fillings applied in a traditional manner and then their new coverings applied.

We even had chance to fit in a couple of leather seat covers for The Beefy Boys!
