On this day in 1817, Branwell Brontë was born! 🎈

Unlike his sisters, Branwell did not receive any formal education. He was given a primary education by his aunt, with a visiting master instructing him in drawing and music. His father Patrick also tutored him in the classics.

As the only son, Branwell was expected to achieve great things and was encouraged to pursue his ambition to become a portrait painter. He tried to establish himself in Bradford, and while he made many friends among the artistic community, he didn't manage to make a profitable living as an artist.

Haworth 1940’s Experience

We are running another Charity Car Park this weekend for The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway 1940's events.

16th and 17th May 2026

Centrally located for Railway events, Central Park and Main Street's shops, restaurants, bars and Brontë Parsonage Museum, you can find the 100-space charity car park at:

Wydean Weaving, Bridgehouse Lane, Haworth BD22 8PA

£7.50 per day, park from 10am to 10pm
Cash and Card accepted.

We love supporting all our hospitality businesses & breweries in the area, we hope all the pubs/bars had a good knock on effect from our festival last weekend and appreciate all the hard work we put into this event for the greater good!
