There was a time in my life when everything changed overnight.

After an awful cycling accident, I had to learn to walk again.
And somewhere in that recovery process, I picked up a paintbrush and tried something new.

At the time, I had no idea that leaning into creativity would slowly rebuild not just my confidence… but my entire life.

This piece feels deeply personal to me.

The wings.
The softness and strength together.
The idea that difficult seasons can sometimes uncover parts of ourselves we never knew existed.

Furniture became more than furniture for me.
It became healing, purpose, creativity, and eventually the business I have today.

Maybe that’s why I’ll always believe transformation is possible — for furniture and for people too.

Every piece I create carries something with it.

Sometimes it’s the history of the furniture itself.
Sometimes it’s the emotion behind the design.

And sometimes, like this one, it quietly reflects part of my own story too.

The wings in this artwork represent resilience, rebuilding, and growth.

Years ago, after a serious cycling accident, I found myself starting over in many ways. During recovery, I began leaning into creativity more deeply than ever before.

That small step eventually became Woz Designs.

So this piece feels like a reminder that difficult moments can still lead somewhere meaningful.

Before a piece of furniture gets painted, there’s a lot that happens first.

Preparation is where everything really begins...

Cleaning, checking for any damage, sanding, smoothing and checking every surface has been fully prepared.

It’s not the most visible part, but it’s what makes the biggest difference to how the finish lasts.

With my bespoke furniture refinishing, this stage is not done quickly and it's always done carefully.

My goal isn’t just how it looks on the day it’s finished, it’s how it holds up for years to come. Jacqui x

Four generations back, my great, great grandfather was making furniture in High Wycombe.

I never met him, but I think about him sometimes when I'm standing in the studio with my hands on a piece of solid old furniture that someone's kept for years.

There's something about knowing that craft runs back through generations. Not the same work, but the same respect for it. The same understanding that furniture holds more than just function.

He made pieces built to last. I bring them back to life.

Different skills. Different times. But maybe the same belief that good furniture deserves more than one chapter.

Have you ever walked past a piece of your furniture a hundred times and then you've tried rearranging things around it and told yourself it's fine.

But something still feels slightly off?

Often it's the weight of the piece, the colour, the way it absorbs the light rather than letting it move around the room.

And over time, that small nagging feeling becomes something bigger. The room doesn't quite settle and you may think you even need to redecorate!

What I've found is that most people don't actually need new furniture, they just need a new relationship with what they've already got.

That's where my heirloom restoration and refinishing service comes in. It's not about covering things up or changing a piece beyond recognition, it's about understanding what's already there and bringing it into today's style so it fits your home now.

Sometimes that's lightening a piece so it breathes more in the space and sometimes it's adding a pretty paper so everything feels more considered.
And sometimes it's simply giving a piece the care it hasn't had in a long time. (Those scratches and marks can often be sanded out).

When your furniture is transformed, something shifts in the room. It often feels
lighter, more settled and definitely more you...and the piece that once felt slightly out of place, becomes something you actually enjoy seeing again.

That's always the moment I'm working towards.
