Yesterday we carried out our first live bee removal of the year, it was from the side of a stable wall behind timber cladding.
As you can see from the pictures there wasn’t very much brood, and there wasn’t very many bees to go with it. They are all now in the NUC and in the quarantine apiary, hopefully they’ll do a lot better here than in the shaded area that they were in before.
A massive thank to Claire Quinn and Chris Lister for the help yesterday.

We carried out our first extraction of 2024 yesterday, as you can see from the photos there wasn’t much capped brood, and the actual colony was quite small but there was quite a few eggs. Queen was caught and she was a good size, all of the bees and the queen are now safely installed in a NUC to carry on with the rest of their lives.
A big thank you to Claire Quinn and Chris Lister.
