Super excited to be working with and designing planting schemes (and doing a bit of planting!) to encourage biodiversity and create green corridors through Dover town.

As in the Chilterns, Dover also has its own rare chalk stream which runs right through the centre of the town, so lots of plant and soil similarities between our two very distant areas.

This section was cleared of brambles and planted a couple of weeks ago and uses some slightly more well behaved cousins of plants found alongside chalk streams in order to manage any prolific self seeding - Lythrum salicaria, Eupatorium maculatum and Filipendula will all provide that riverbank feeling and heaven for pollinators while tough ground cover like Symphytum will help keep the weeds down and the management manageable!

Such a fab project with some wonderful people! Loving being a part of it and really looking forward to helping plant up the next section in a couple of weeks! 🌿

Finishing the week feeling a bit like this beautiful dog!

600 plants in and a meadow sown at this gorgeous location and I couldn’t have done it without the legends that are and .gardens! Thank you! 💚

Plants have been chosen to provide year round pollen and nectar to support the inhabitants of the local nature reserve and a beautiful journey down to the garden office. The meadow at the back of the garden has a little mown space in the middle for a couple of chairs and a glass of wine to watch the horses in midsummer. There’s also enough lawn left for a deerhound to get the zoomies! Fabulous project for lovely clients, can’t wait to see this one come to life! 🌿

A hugely exciting project this year, I’ve been working with and the to design resilient and sustainable planting schemes for Dover town which support biodiversity and require minimal input to maintain.

This is massively progressive for a town council to undertake and hats off to Dover Town Council for choosing to be at the forefront of climate action.

Last Monday we had a field trip to Colchester to tour the garden, meet the Beth Chatto education team and see some of the amazing work they’ve been doing in the town; Chattowood - a housing development where they have planted and maintain sustainable planting in sand, and the Meanwhile Garden - a hugely inspiring community green space filled with art and tough plants that creates a really immersive experience. We also got a peek behind the scenes at the propagation tunnels which for this plant geek was a total highlight!

Really looking forward to working with the local community in Dover to plant up the current phase and create more green corridors in the town 🌿

Site update on the Beaconsfield project- path, terrace and beds are in! Soil will be added between the path pavers for planting which will soften their presence considerably. Trees set out today, planting next week! Exciting! 🌿

Really excited for the landscaping to start on this fabulous project this week!

A light touch with a small new terrace next to the garden office to enjoy the view, a proper path so that access is easy all year round and great big swirly borders to echo the amazing view.

The site backs on to a butterfly reserve so lots of research has been done on including nectar and larval plants for the local inhabitants. There’s also year round flowering so the commute through the planting to the office will always have something beautiful to look at.

Great to be working with again and really looking forward to seeing this one come to life! 🌿

Finishing off 2025 with my 12 favourite pics. Some sent to me by clients as their gardens mature and some of gardens only built this year. Also some of their lovely dogs… :-) 🐶

A huge thanks to my wonderful clients for some brilliant projects, and the superb landscapers and suppliers for making the gardens 💚

Looking forward to a busy 2026 including a super exciting public space garden! Also possibly getting round to posting a bit more often…

Happy New Year everyone! 🌿

Some summery loveliness in a client’s garden this week. We completed this garden last Autumn and it’s brilliant to see it standing up to the drought so well. Award for the most bees went to Salvia ‘Caradonna’! 🐝Pink fluffy loveliness - Sanguisorba ‘Pink Tanna’.

Have a lovely weekend all 🌿

Some highlights from Hampton Court today, including the beautiful Woodland Edge garden from (we were at college together, I didn’t just crash his garden :-)) - the loveliest planting in a beautifully considered space that really felt at one with nature.

Really wonderful to see so many natural materials being used at the show today 🌿

Had to share these great pics sent to me by the loveliest of clients.

Still some landscaping to do on this gorgeous renovation but it’s really getting there.

My client said;

‘The whole process has been so fun and collaborative. Laura completely understood our vision as well as our lifestyle and needs. The results are a well considered design that compliments the architecture of our renovation.’

Really looking forward to seeing the completed garden later this year! 🌿

Some highlights from a fab day today. So many gorgeous plants! But a couple of standouts were the horticulture in Tom Massey’s Avanade Intelligent garden - a brilliant example of right plant right place, the copper beech topiary in Jo Thompson’s Glasshouse garden which combined beautifully with the colour scheme (a very beautiful garden all round) and finally I absolutely loved this little hairy Geum (final pic) - Geum triflorum! So brilliant! More pics up in Stories 🌿

Brilliant site visit today with the loveliest clients to check on progress, talk through details and finalise material combinations. This project involves a huge house renovation too so it will be a massive transformation when it’s done. Look forward to showing the completed project in a few months time! 🌿
