This is a THANK YOU post.
Thank you to all the lovely people who came to the Spring 🌺 Fling at the Gorebridge Beacon yesterday and bought plants at the plant sale. We loved talking with you and helping with your garden queries where we were able. We love talking about garden stuff! We now have enough funds to keep making your community garden beautiful. It made us all very happy to see so many families roaming round, you're welcome anytime!
Thank you to all the staff who put in the extra to make the event special, you know who you are.
Thank you to the other volunteers, especially the GCDT board members and friends who carry a huge load for the community, often under appreciated πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ round of applause for you guys.
Thank you to all the folk who turn up to the gardening sessions, we may not be many, we may be looking for more helpers, but ............see what we did?
🀠🌺🌻🏡️πŸͺ»
PS If you'd like to help in any way, please let Dawn know. We could do with a hand this time of year what with the mowing and watering.

We're coming to our busy time of year in the garden, keeping it tidy and getting ready for our plant sale on the 30th May. We were wondering if there would be a kind soul in this community who would be able to give us a hand with the mowing? We have 2 mowers, a heavy duty petrol one (my favourite!) and a much lighter battery operated one. If you could spare a few hours a week, message me and we can arrange a time.

The community gardeners have been very busy. The "show gardens" were made 2 years ago and needed a lot of attention. The metal wheel had rusted and had to be removed and the plants are mostly bursting at the seams with nowhere to go, confined within their edging. We thought about it a lot and decided to take away the edging and join them to make one beautiful border. This is phase 1. It's taken a lot of cardboard and compost and hard work. (The compost is mostly our own). We will have to wait a while before we can plant. We've been collecting perennials and grasses and all manner of ground covering over the past few months. If any of you have anything you think would look good and withstand the wind, please let us know! Phase 2, joining the remaining beds, will follow when we get our breath back.
