In a previous garden I had painted our swing seat in a colour scheme to perfectly suit the pink clematis montana that it sat under.
Lead Grey was paired with Rock Rose Wood Paint for a country cottage feel, with a floral stencil painted in Rock Rose on the cross beam to complete the look. It looked beautiful and provided many hours of relaxation in the garden.
After moving house it felt like the colour scheme didn’t suit the new location so when a maintenance coat was needed, I decided to go for a new colour combination that would fit the surroundings better.
With the swing seat sitting on a stone terrace looking out over the Somerset Levels it only seemed appropriate to paint it in Wetlands Green with Doulting Stone to contrast against the fresh green paint colour and stones of the terrace and house.
It was a cold but dry and sunny wintery spell when I painted. You can paint Thorndown Wood Paint in temperatures as low as 0oC and fingerless gloves helped against the chill. Two coats of Wetlands Green were painted on the main frame with three coats of Doulting Stone on the seat and horizontal drinks shelves to provide extra durability from wear and weather.
The change in colour has created a totally different atmosphere and wonderful vantage point to enjoy glorious sunsets in the Somerset countryside.
