This dining table and chairs came in over December with a fair bit of work to be done. The set had originally travelled over from Germany, thought to be over 80 years old and were something of a family heirloom. I was delighted to be asked to work on them.
The clients chose a beautiful for the chairs which complemented the colour of the frame. The set had faded considerably over the years and so I needed to find the perfect colour to tie in the lighter area ls to the pieces that had retained much of the original stain.
The veneer on the table top was unfortunately beyond repair and needed replaced. This involved a lot of work regarding preparation and then color matching.
It was a hugely satisfying job and I love that at home shot! I hope there are lots of lively dinner parties round this set for many years to come!!

Cheerful curve backed chair in the Banana Leaf fabric from .
All the foam needed replaced and it was decided that the natural wood would suit the fabric better. As it turned out it was a beautiful Beech frame and it came up a treat.

This dining chair was in for a quick do up recently. It was all flat and saggy so I replaced the foam and webbing and covered it in the most sumptuous green velvet. I unfortunately am a horrible photographer and didn't catch the deep green colour at all..
As always, the wood gets a wee clean and a wax.

This chair came in from the gals for a quick mend on the arm and rail which had both split. Toothpicks and 3mm dowels were drilled in to fix them in place. I finished them with a French Polish and touched them in with pigment to match the timber.

Cianalas.
I recently finished working on this wee nest of tables for
The brief was for minimal geometric linear designs on each of the tabletops.
Deirdre and I have been feeling homesick for Skye this past year and after some discussion we decided use the familiar landscapes from home in the designs.
The Old Man of Storr, Beinn na Caillich, Bla Bheinn and lastly The Cuillins from Elgol (the majesty of which can only be appreciated IRL).
I lost my before shots of the tables but there was a fair bit of work needed that I'm disappointed to not be able to show. The veneer which had come off completely in parts needed replaced, the wood was stained a deep brown mahogany and finished with a French Polish.

It was a lovely job to see me through lockdowns.

If I have used photos from recognisable photographers then let me know to credit them. The Cuillins photo is by Martin Lawrence Photography

This beautiful little Victorian chair has finally gone home after a long time in the workshop. The customers choice of William Morris fabric from was lovely to work with.
After removing two layers of fabric it was resprung and restuffed. I gave the legs touch up and polished those lovely wee brass castors. There was just enough for a little round scatter cushion out of the remnants.
I'm getting its pair in for a new coat in the New Year.
