We have another new therapist starting at The Wellbeing Rooms at Stepps this week! Welcome on board to Kirsty Halliday who is a family and systemic psychotherapist.
About Kirsty
Kirsty has worked in the NHS for over 15 years. She began her career as an Assistant Clinical Psychologist in a Primary Care Mental Health Team, supporting adults with a range of difficulties. She then trained and qualified as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology, working with children, young people, and their families experiencing challenges such as anxiety, low mood, and emotional or behavioural difficulties. Over time, Kirsty became increasingly interested in the wider contexts that shape people’s lives. She believes that none of us exist in isolation—we are influenced by our relationships, histories, and the environments around us. This naturally led her to train in systemic psychotherapy, focusing on understanding the roots of current difficulties, processing trauma, and strengthening communication, connection, and meaning-making.
How Kirsty Works
Kirsty’s approach is warm, collaborative, and guided by your goals. She works integratively, drawing on a range of systemic ideas and therapeutic models to suit each person’s unique needs. Her style is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and a belief in the power of people’s stories, strengths, and relationships.
Sessions move at your pace, offering a safe and reflective space to explore experiences, make sense of challenges, and find new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Who She Supports
Kirsty works with individuals, couples, and families. While she has a particular interest in trauma, she welcomes people seeking support for a wide range of concerns, including:
Trauma and adverse experiences
Anxiety, low mood, and emotional distress
Communication or relationship difficulties
Bereavement and loss
Family transitions or separation
Health or medical-related challenges
Behavioural or emotional difficulties in children or young people
Although she works with a systemic lens, the whole family does not need to attend. Many people choose to work with her individually. When helpful, sessions can include partners, family members, or significant others. Kirsty offers both short-term and longer-term therapy.
Getting Started
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and Kirsty aims to make that step as comfortable as possible. She works independently, so a GP referral is not required. If you would like to find out more or arrange an initial appointment, you can contact Kirsty at:
